Last week the Downtown Painesville released a press release.
Heritage Ohio is proud to announce the 2016 certification of Painesville as a National Main Street Center!
This designation is a testament to the hard work and commitment of the DPO Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers. Let us not forget the generous financial support of all resident's of Painesville through sponsorship of our generous city council!
Take a bow fellow citizens you paid for it.
We now have a vibrant Downtown where people have numerous opportunities to shop at a variety of stores.
Myself no where has so much been spent to do so little. But that's only my opinion. Maybe they can suck-up some more cash? Resident's enjoy your Bathtub races and WTF is a Painesville Farm & Flea? Maybe it's Farm and Fleece?
Parkin' in the Ville'
Have heard rumors we will spend close to $400,000 on paving the ground where the old Parking Garage was located? Just think if we had spent that money plus the money we spent to tear it down we might still have had a functioning parking garage? Let's be honest Painesville will ever be vintage anything.
Great Lakes Construction Company has made application for the determination of one construction trailer at 559 Bank St. for the replacement and construction of new trestle over Grand River for NS railroad.
Want to buy a Racetrack?
Painesville Speedway is up for sale through an auction. This has been a Painesville institution since 1958. Myself at that time I thought it was the cat's ass! First time there was for a dare devil show. Remember buying stickers with your favorite drivers numbers to put on your car's rear window. Witnessed the speed and control of a Hudson Hornet long before the CARS movie. Lost interest when figure 8 became popular. Could purchase lock stock and barrel cheaper than a parking lot in Painesville?
RUMORS?
Three different resident's have told me this wild story. Casey Anthony and her daughter Caylee lived in Painesville for a time with an uncle in of all places on Cedarbrook Dr. in a rental house? If anyone can add to the mystery please drop us a note.

Speaking of doing business in downtown Painesville. Was cheated again by a manager at Harry's II on Richmond St. again. They put items on sale and never program the cash registers? so if something is 2/$400 but is marked $2.99 you will be charged at $2.99. When you point it out he becomes upset with you, In the future I will avoid this establishment as I suggest you all do. Just because I'm poor doesn't mean I'm stupid.
Anyone else have a similar situation?

If an individual item is marked as $2.99, that is the price you should be charged. It is marked properly.
If you want the better "value", then buy 2 of them and you get them for $2.00.
I understand that you don't like it but it doesn't seem that hard to comprehend.
Half of 400 is 200 therefore getting it for $2.99 is a terrific deal.
What is Harry's II? And where?
If nothing else, at least we now know that Heritage Ohio sets a very low bar to qualify for certification of a downtown area. Maybe Grand River should apply.

9:07 here, well I did purchase (2) items so I should have received the $4.00 price. This is an ongoing way this store does business. They advertise but they don't honor the sale price. This practice is not done by an employee but clearly someone in charge! So much to go through for $1.98.
I can verify 9:07 story. I went into Harry's on Richmond St. and witnessed the ad in the window as well as on their flyer. I purchased 2 of the white cheddar popcorn marked both $2.99 with a red sticker marked 2/$400 I waited and a manager scanned my purchase and the two both came up $299 I questioned him and received a refund of $1.98. All I can suggest is buyer beware!
I have another one for you. Ask for a receipt next time you buy a taxable item like cigarettes or soda. I bet it takes a minute to get one. He will charge you the after tax price, but it will not show any sales tax. Just more money in his pocket.
Don't you all know how to use a decimal? Was not Painesville math, merely the numbers in your post were not correct. Decimals, decimals, decimals.
So, Im lost. While back a mention was made of a council person living out side of Painesville. Where is the followup? You mentioned it but nothing came of it. Were you incorrect? Finish what you started.
While reading the article in the paper as to why our utility rates are so expensive I had to laugh at how the utility rate was equated with the turnpike tolls. How silly. Most everyone knows ahead of time if they are taking a road full of toll booths. Then they have a choice, their choice to drive that road or elsewhere. So how can the two be the same. We do not have a choice, we are stuck. Stuck in a place where we chose to live BECAUSE of those fantastic rates. And now our property is worthless. When selling, we can not boast of the great rates or the great school system in this city. Shame.
