"PAINESVILLE 2017"

THERE WAS AN PUBLIC NOTICE WITH CONCERNS TO OUR POWER PLANT IN TODAYS NEWS-HERALD CLASSIFIED SECTION PAGE E2.  TAKE THE TIME TO READ IT?

What has Painesville in store for us in the coming year?

The new year usher's in a new City Manager new ideas new policies.

Huntington Bank with the acquisition of First Merit Bank will be moving from their offices on the Square to the First Merit building on Liberty St.

Talk of a merger between Walgreen's and Rite-Aid could mean a new operation called Fred's going into the Rite-Aid building. (Fred's an east coast drugstore)

Expansion on the old Coe Manufacturing property coming in 2017.

And thankfully we have benefited with Starfish Coffee Shop in Downtown Painesville.

Dollar Tree seems to be a busy place.

None a not so bright outcome. STP will be closing their plant on Lexington Ave. early in the next year.

Please tells us what you wish was coming or is coming to Painesville. I know a Grocery Store.

In todays News-Herald a front page article on Painesville Power customer's complaints.

As I have mentioned numerous times the transparency of Painesville Power has to be exposed. This Power Cost Adjustment what exactly goes into that part of your bill? Could you be receiving a sur-charge on failed power purchase contracts? Are you paying for plant workers not working producing electric power? No one presently knows what goes into that equations. Does Painesville get off telling others we haven't raised our electric power costs in 20 years while failing to mention the PCA goes up monthly. It's time Painesville gives it's resident's a transparent bill as to let them compare prices.

I read the article in the News Herald today and thought about you. You have been telling us for years this day was coming and neither council or the administration did anything to stop it from happening. Why have a utility commission when you have been telling them for years what the problem consists of as they sit silently at council meetings when you finish with your explanation? Did anyone ever do anything.

Besides the grocery store, I'd also like to see:

The Lake Health Urgent Care that's currently next to Subway be moved to a larger facility in town.

A bakery or takeout-food business in the former Puritan Bakery location.

A Mexican restaurant with a dining room, similar to Compadres or Don Tequila.

There's other businesses that I'd like to see in town, such as a steakhouse/BBQ or a bookstore, but it's not realistic due to several factors, including economics and a lack of free parking.

8:04 Your requests seem very reasonable. If I remember correctly LCHS promised an REAL Urgent Care facility that never materialized. DPO there's something to strive for.
5:28 The chickens are coming to roost. Thank-you for the compliment. Ms. Jenkins claim of oversight for our utilities is bogus. Why join or be a part of a commission with no teeth? The council as well as the administration would do as they wish. Many residents complained about the AMP-OHIO deals with no results. Do you really think a committee of residents could have bought into these take or pay contracts without a ceiling? Or estimates that were so far off? AMP took the then council as well as administration for one Hell of a ride. Because... ATM Ain't their money! The Mafia could run a better utility department.
Every time I think about it burns me up of all the stupidity I witnessed.

Ms Jenkins told us there was lack of interest for a Utility Committee and others have told us there were interested people but Council/Administration didn't approve of those who showed interest. Which is it?

7:31 Ms. Jenkins should attend more Town Hall Meetings. It was told by a councilman that four people applied. All city residents problem was three of them were First Energy employee's and we can't have that! Someone that might know how the electric system works. Katie talk to your buddy Mike. Want to bet if they were AMP-OHIO employee's if they would have been rejected? All these electric deals have been built on lies!
12:47 Seems like just about everything fails there? High rent all electric kitchen.

7:31 you're correct. I was asked, said yes and never heard back. I was very vocal to the opposition against the AMP Ohio contract.
if you ask questions and are not a yes man, you might have a problem. In My Humble Opinion.......

Most of the times I ate at Jalapeno Loco, it was one-quarter to half-filled with patrons, so I would agree with Term that high rent could have very well been a factor in its departure. Also, parking was an issue, especially before 5 P.M., because of the parking meters. I think a Mexican restaurant with a dining room would do well here, as long as it was in a good location that provided ample, free parking.

Does Katie Jenkins know much about anything regarding what goes on with our city government? She doesn't give an impression of being someone who does, nor does she seem like she wants to expend more than the minimum amount of energy or time to learn. As obnoxious as I thought Hal Werner was, he seemed to know more about city issues than Jenkins, even if I disagreed with many of his opinions about them. She represents the ward in which I live, but I've given up contacting her whenever I've needed assistance with something city-related; instead, I contact one of the at-large council members, usually Lori Dinallo.

Commas! For gosh sake man, use blinkin' commas. Your first sentence is shameful.
Lake Health urgent care? I too thought the hospital 'promised' an ER or urgent care as they were blowing out of town. Now, why hasn't this city gone after the Lake Health people for not holding their end of the bargain? How long does it take??
No Mas Mexican restaurants or anything for that matter here - ViVa Trump

my take from the public notice is if they didn't keep the plant operational even temporarily than they would no longer be considered a city power and thus would have to be governed by p.u.c.o., otherwise its just a label for how they're using it anyways

First Energy is a private company. the goals of a private company are to build market shares, keep cost low and produce profits for owners and shareholders.
How are these goals in conflict with our Electric Division?
The past 3 City Managers have constantly told the citizens of Painesville that "we locally own our Power Company, We are the shareholders".
I don't feel like an owner or a shareholder. I don't feel that cost are kept low. I don't feel like our market shares are protected. It doesn't seem that the Administration or Council are honest, open or the least bit transparent. I hope things change in 2017.

7:41 you are correct and being a privately held company you could ask them to the penny how much they profited or lost in the last year. Something Painesville Power hasn't a clue.
6:26 The P.U.C.O will never have input into Painesville unless we sell the power rights to a private company.
12:31 God Bless her but Katie by now must realized that her purpose isn't to be cheerleader and well liked by the administration. Katie there not your friends.
3:6 COMAS! fine you don't want a Mexican Restaurant what would you like?
Even Trump eats' Mexican fare?
12:31 Been there, done that!
7:31 Your the last person they want sitting on that board! You ask to many questions and the logic about cost's isn't the city's cup of tea. Weren't you supposed to be on some ecology community board? What ever happened to that idea? Didn't play the game they wanted you to play?
