"TRAVELIN' MAN" ricky nelson

I'm a travelin' man
Made a lot of stops all over the world

Well first stop this week was the Painesville City Board of Education Meeting Monday.

Well we were in and out of there in a half hour! Seems Mr. Shepard is on vacation in Germany.

A few items that came up the Ohio Senate has a bill  in front of it which claims school can not start before Labor Day without a public hearing in that district? Seem Cedar Point has more 'juice' than I thought.

Also they solved the nutritional problem with fund raiser candy sales? No sales can be taken  during school hours, it is verboten!

Awarding of Diplomas to Summer Graduate- Ruth Haines

SRO is now in place at Heritage Middle School.

A special mention*

Hope Ridge Methodist Church made a $2000.00 donation to Elm Elementary  Raider Rack- school supplies and uniforms. Thank You!

I believe there is a Red Raider Roundtable for Heritage Middle School for this Thursday  09?15/16 please check with the school about the time.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Also this Thursday;

The Zoning Board will meet and one of the items on the agenda will be the new structure to be built on the site of the former Senior Center. Anyone who has concerns about our downtown should be in attendance to view the County's presentation. What ever happened to that Western Reserve motif?
What we allow the county to do with this piece of property will have a bearing on Painesville as well as Veterans Park for generations. Just saying the Human Services building on Main St. reminds me of a large barn.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Also failed to mention in the council meeting post  that this Friday is Tara Grimm last day as an employee of Painesville City. Tara who served as Clerk of Council for the past three years will now work for the City of Kent, Ohio. I always felt Tara hand a very challenging position. Kind of like herding cats, if you know what I mean. She is one of those employee's you wish would stay. Congratulations and the best to you in the future.

He is not on vacation, he is being Sponsored by the German government to participate in cultural and educational exchanges-at no cost to the taxpayers.

What could the Germans learn from him? How not to run a school district?

As much as I can't stand most of your views on many subjects. Somehow you keep most of us informed about what's happening around here better then all the different news sites and websites. Who knew the super was in Germany? Who knew about the planning meeting tonight? Usually we find things out after the fact.
So thank you for providing a needed service and calling some of these people out.

Just an FYI
The meeting tonight is the Board of Zoning Appeals and will relate only to the proposed building height.
Nothing more.
It is not the Planning Commission (which met last week).

Mr.Shepard. Germany now. Europe this past summer. Rotary. Dancing with the Stars. Downtown Painesville. Lifeline.
He schedules everything except his job. "Ain't got time for that."" We've heard that before. What could he possibly have to offer Germany.

It seems most believe traveling the world while on the payroll of the citizens of Painesville will what benefit us? Look it's a scam for a free trip nothing else. I guess f PCLS was in some high place it might make sense. The school board should tell him get his A@@ back to work! Odd until Term mentioned it seems no one was aware of all this? Maybe Fitzgerald accompanied him? To learn how to run a city?

9:25 Not to let the good super off the hook but this "trip" must have been sanctioned by the BOE? That said what has he done for us lately?
His and their first responsibility is to the student's and taxpayer's of Painesville. Maybe we don't even need a Superintendent?
As far as Fitzgerald Vegas has him at 3 to 1 odds to appear Monday nite!

If he is still on the payroll he definitely not being paid by the German government. What a crock and to the board what are you good for anyway?
Where will we find him at the beer tent?

Wow, who cares where the guy goes for a vacation. But wait, it isn't a vacation but to "participate in cultural and educational exchanges-at no cost to the taxpayers." If the voted school board approved this, why does this bother certain people?

A vacation during the school year for a school administrator??
Are you serious?
How many teachers would be allowed that luxury?
The summer break is when school personal are on vacation, not during the school year.

142 Are you sure? You might want to check the contracts of school employees. Some work the students schedule, some are year round employees. Administration is entirely different with most working year round on salary. Bottom line is the BOE approved this. Lets hope something good comes from this.
