"IT'S COLD OUTSIDE" choir

Yes it was cold outside and there seemed to be a chill in the room during the organizational meeting. As predicted Paul Hach assumed the position of council-president without an executive meeting. When the nomination for council vice president Lori DiNallo was put on the table, councilman Fodor asked to go to executive session?

After twenty minutes council returned and voted for Mrs. DiNallo as council vice-president. ( It would have been interesting to be a fly on that wall.)

Congratulations to both of the new leaders of council.

Council put on third reading what the verbiage of an  "unoccupied" property was. This has more to do with business property than that empty house sitting next to you.

City Manager Carson reminded resident's of the street parking ban when two inches of snow is on the ground. That said until the city makes an EXPENSIVE example of afew vehicles in all four wards the snowplow drivers will just have to do the best avoiding them.

Residents  in the Cedarbrook area WARD III councilman DeLeone mentioned that he has talked to Atwell's and the owner is presently looking into a sound deadening solution to the noise. Mike your on the clock, can we expect results by July?

Council discussed Immigration, with councilman Flock bringing up the letter council-president Horvath sent to Senator DeWine years ago. Just a wild guess but I understand Mrs. DiNallo wanting to respond to city constituents, but I see this headed into a dead end. The present draft of the letter doesn't even include any kind of border security.

On a side note the traffic light at Richmond and Erie Street's has been out since last night, The city has wisely made it a four-way stop.

I've heard the penalty for parking during a snow ban is a $5.00 fee. If this is true, the city needs to increase that to about $100.00. It will either make someone think twice about parking or it will help the general fund. Who's job is it to report them? I can't see a plow driver on a cell phone making calls while driving. If nothing is being done (and I know of a persons car) maybe the police should be doing a city sweep on those vehicles.
As for Ms Dinallo, what is her agenda? I can't understand why she wants Painesville to become involved in a federal problem. Can anyone shed some light?

Until last week I had no idea that there was such a problem at Atwells. Noisy cars get more attention from the authorities than this has.
There is no reason the residents in that area should ever have to listen to gunfire like this.
Mr Deleone, you wanted the job, now you need to step up and get this taken care of.

Ohio is a free state. (So far)That gunfire is the sound of freedom! The range, and the gunfire from it, has been there since before most people ever lived nearby.

I would rather live with a few bang bangs than the ground shaking rumble and deafening air horns of a dozen CSX trains a day.

The Atwell’s are good people. They will address these concerns.

Why is everyone acting like the noise at Atwell's is a new problem? Where was the outrage when Bob Fountain was on the clock? Give DeLeone credit for at least doing something; anything.

Adam the noise is getting worse by the week. Councilman DeLeone was made aware and listened to the shooting last July. He told me the same thing then as he did last night. The residents seem quite fair giving everyone a year.
Gun fire in this case is the sound of irresponsible people with no concerns but to themselves, sorry Hope you are right about the Atwell's. Tell me would it be asking to much to be closed on Sunday? For one day of peace?

8:46 Ask Mrs. DiNallo what her agenda is.
Your idea if they towed and fined one car in each ward this problem would be solved. I 'm guessing but she must of been asked by the Hispanic community. Why no Border Security in the letter is beyond me.

Council could do a service to residents with this ordinance of an "unoccupied" business using the old Dollar Bank as an example of how this would work.

I like guns, shooting ranges, and freedom. That does not mean me, my family, our guests and neighbors should have to live in an environment that sounds like a freakin` war zone. I don`t care how long Atwells has been doing it. If they are good people then they will be happy to install sound deadening insulation! The trains don`t bother us nearly as much as the random, sporadic and incessant gunfire. It`s morning, noon and night, seven days a week!

My wife got our van towed last week for violating the snow ban. The city was justified, and thankfully since it was work related, her employer paid the $155.00 but I had to go to PPD with proof of ownership to get it released from Bills towing on Rt20 in Painesville Twp. I had to wait a half an hour for someone to arrive, and luckily I got it out of a snowdrift. Is that punishment enough folks? $155.00

Are you really that naive? I am not anti-gun in any way or shape but this (target practice at a private range) has NOTHING to do with freedom. It is a public nuisance and annoyance. To try and hide it behind a right to bear arms is just being ignorant.

You say "The range, and the gunfire from it, has been there since before most people ever lived nearby."
You have done the research to back that up, haven't you? For some reason I think you are just making it up.

BTW, the tracks by Atwells are Norfolk Southern, not CSX. You couldn't even get that correct.

The reason that border security was not mentioned, I am sure, is because the Mexicans, and their government want open borders. They resent the division of the two countries, and they think they are the ones that actually belong here. They think they deserve full privileges in the United States of America, and that they should all be allowed to become citizens and be able to come and go freely and live here when and if they want. Why would they want borders? They even blame the deaths of the people who die trying to get here on us and our border security, which is a typical way of thinking of the Mexican people. I'm not being prejudiced here; I'm just saying what anyone who has been paying attention and listening to them knows. This is what they want, and this is what they say. This is also what they are accomplishing. It seems to me that the letter was written by Veronica Dahlberg and/or Hola, just like the last one that was sent to Senator DeWine by a former Painesville City Council that turned our city into a sanctuary city for illegals. Their interest is not for America and what is best for her; it is for Mexicans and what is best for Mexicans. And that problem should be left to Mexico, as we have enough problems of our own. There is no way they want borders. Listen to their President talk, for example. He also thinks they all belong here, that there should be no borders, and is indignant (and worse) that all his people may be sent home. He demands to know where they will put them all and how they will take care of them. We need to wake up while there are still borders.

As far as anyone on city council taking a poll of the people in their Ward or this city goes, you can no longer do that. Most of the people that step forward are illegals demanding rights they should not have, so nobody on that side can be counted unless they prove they are citizens. Even if you tried to accomplish that impossible task, the Mexicans propensity for falsified documents would make the results useless.

American has laws. Anyone on city council or any other position of authority in the land that petitions for those laws to be broken needs to get out of office...with a recall if necessary.

I was heading south on Richmond Monday night around 9pm. I was looking ahead at the light in front of the courthouse, and didn't really notice the light was out at Erie. Fortunately, I realized before I got in the intersection and was able to hit the breaks and stop. Then I noticed a police car sitting in the parking lot of the building next to the PNC bank. I know it was cold, but couldn't he have been out there directing traffic, or even just parking in the middle of the intersection with his lights on? I know that you need to treat it like a four way stop, but I doubt most others do. Was he just waiting to ticket someone who didn't stop?

The absurdity never ends. City council is concerned with immigration which a national matter and refuses to endorse a letter to the state attorney general requesting an investigation into fraudulent dealings concerning AMP and Prairie State.

You can not make this stuff up.

Lot of interesting comments,
9:08 you hit it on the head.
8:45 without border securuty this letter would just get filed in the round filing cabinet on the floor by most legislators.
7:58 Lets hope our councilman see's this the same way?
6:40 Now you payed $155.00 for being in violation of the snow ban? Please, oh please this charge was not broken down $100.00 towing, $50.00 storage and a $5.00 city ticket? Tell me I'm wrong please!

At January 8, 2014 at 10:39 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

$135.00 for the tow! $20.00 for one day storage. (though I retrieved my vehicle within two hours), and oddly enough there was no ticket! Pretty steep tow charge. I wonder what is Painesville`s cut?

At January 8, 2014 at 11:07 AM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

10:39 Thank you for the info.
Painesville doesn't get a cut I hope. Now what did all this cost PPD in manpower and money?
You wonder why we're going broke?
Maybe $100.00 for the tow and $10.00 and $45.00 ticket. The city it seems is not in the business of making money, or for that matter covering costs.

At January 8, 2014 at 11:18 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

That is what I was driving at with my first post @8:46. City needs to increase the fine especially as they are so broke. Here is a way to increase revenue. As for suggesting a company close on a Sunday, especially to benefit Yourself! That's mighty selfish isn't it? It's their business, they can set the hours with no mind to anyone.

At January 8, 2014 at 11:37 AM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

11:18 They can be open 24 hours a day, I just don't want to listen to the constant shooting. Am I and the rest of us asking to much? Or would the solution to the problem Atwell's doing the right thing and sound proofing the building? You tell me. This has become a nuisance to the neighborhood. I expect this to be resolved by July.

At January 8, 2014 at 1:58 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I doubt that not having anything about border security in the letter has anything to do with anything. Did the last letter have anything about border security in it? Unless my memory fails me, it did not, and it brought us a city full of illegals, and continues to bring more and more each day. Why would the Mexicans or Veronica Dahlberg want border security? The whole point is that they do not. The entire Mexican problem is that they want no borders. The entire American problem is that we don't have it. Nobody from Mexico wants borders, and no mention of border security in the letter isn't going to mean a thing.

Your exact words "Tell me would it be asking to much to be closed on Sunday? For one day of peace?"
Then you said "They can be open 24hours a day,..." So on one hand you'd like them to close Sunday for you sake. Then you went to the other side of your mouth when called out. Typical. Maybe you should move as Atwells has been there longer than you have been back on Cedarbrook and you knew when you came back what it was like. Go back to your old quiet neighborhood then.

4:29 Maybe I just didn't make myself clear. Until there is a solution could we have one day of peace. After modifications are made for ventilation, sound deadeners, ect. The result being we won't have to listen to the noise, they can be open 24 hours a day. Typical? No just looking for a solution.
For those of you that claim the range was always there. It was closed for at least 3 years do to insurance issues.
This isn't that hard to resolve.
I want them to stay in business only respect their neighbors.

The night the light was out at Erie and Richmond, I saw a linemen in his bucket truck at the top of the pole working on it with the wind chill at -20, everyone was stopping at the light like it was a 4 way stop, later they put up the temp. stop signs for the idiots that don't know the rule to stop when a light is not working.

THANKS TO THE ELECTRIC AND THE WATER DEPTS FOR THE HARD WORK THEY DO TO KEEP US ON.

AND TO THE FIRE AND POLICE.
GREAT JOB.

WE LOVE THIS CITY.

While skimming through I came across a thought to post. Ramos, the illegal that they are trying to deport. I saw in the paper and it sounded like David Joyce and another politician are trying to help this young fellow. Anyone else read it? I have spoken to Mr. Joyce numerous times and informed him I am against immigration reform and the way this country is helping them. There was a townhall type phone conference and other callers were of the same opinion. What is it going to take to be heard? Vote him out of office? I think everyone in this town that is fed up with illegals should flood his office.

If it isn't that hard to resolve perhaps you should go door to door in Painesville to take up donations for them. It isn't that cheap to resolve either especially if it's not coming out of your pocket. I also think you may be calling out the wrong people. Does Atwells run the range or does another party?

Oh, you neglected the other comment as to why it's such a big deal to you. Huh? At council you state your address as Owego and I'm sure you can't hear the range over there. So, if it's not bothering the Cedarbrook allotment, (other than your claims of a handful of residents) why is it bothering you?

The Cimaglio family has owned a house on Cedarbrook since 1956.
Look there should be an easy solution to this, no one wants anybody to lose their business.
I'm also glad to see that only LIBS would be offended by the noise. I will keep that in my memory.
