"CAN'T TOUCH THIS" m.c. hammer

I have sat at council meetings in Painesville and have watched constantly as the administration comes up with "new" ordinances.

The last one was the Painesville definition of a family. After everything was said and done do any of you now know what the definition is?

We have an ordinance that after 30 days curtains not sheets must be up in windows. How much of your front lawn can be used for parking. Yet I see houses wrapped in plastic like a boat for the winter?

Someone mentioned the parking ban when snowfall exceeds two inches, how well is that one being enforced?

Noise ordinance? Try living around Atwell's on Chestnut St. Southside of Painesville sounds like downtown Kandahar.  You could kill someone and nobody would even flinch at the gunfire. Want to gamble? Go next door to Chestnut Food Mart... two gambling machines.

None of these different ordinances are being enforced and only on the books to intimidate citizens if the city sees the need. My solution -get rid of them all. Why make people wait until 5:00 pm Friday to do what they want without any paper work for building permits?

We could sell our city as a truly open city. The only law  well you decide.

Sheets instead of curtains? The city owns the hotel and uses plywood as curtains!

What if you have decorative blinds instead of curtains?

Atwells, gunfire morning, noon and night. This has only been worse with conceal and carry laws.
I hear the shooting inside my house in the middle of winter!
Along with the property looks like Hell.

Are you freakin` serious? The city trying to regulate window coverings from inside a private home? Are we a gated community now? What color am I allowed to paint my home? Do I need a permit to display Christmas lights? Am I allowed to use colored lights or must they be white? ATWELLS? The worst neighbor from hell I have EVER had! Seven days a week of incessant, repeated, and random GUNFIRE! ATWELLS doesn`t even attempt to muffle the noise that permeates my brick walls ALL day long! If ANY private citizen persistently annoyed their neighbors as ATWELLS, regardless of decibel levels, they would be hauled into court repeatedly! Something HAS to be done to stop this! I have never witnessed a business in ANY other city allowed to have such contempt for the peace of the citizens!

With every new ordinance passed, more of your rights are being infringed on.

The simpletons want a police state in PAINESVILLE... how'd that work out in East Germany ?

7:12 Guess you haven't seen much of OHIO?
10:14 Trying? The laws already on the books.
I don't see much help from the city on Atwell situation.

Maybe before all your complaining you should talk to someone at city hall or at least your councilman?

1:50 Ward III councilman DeLeone is well aware of the situation. He even mentioned the caliper of weapon being used. He claimed no noise pollution? Sometimes it's like M80's going off for 15 minutes. Mike also ran for office as an assistant prosecutor?

2:47 That housing project in that area started during WWII. There was no Atwell's gun range at that time. What's with the caps?

While I am not in favor of government interference, people should use some common sense. If they do not, rules have to be made to account for it.

Sheets should NEVER be used as a window covering except maybe for a short period of time when someone has just moved into a new dwelling. I don't know about anyone else but I do not want to look at sheets covering windows at a house next door to me. Do you?
The fact that it is a "private" home is really of no importance in this case. The City is responsible for administering all kinds of rules that apply to private homes.

The City certainly should have better things to do BUT there must have been a problem somewhere or this would not have come before Council.

2:47/8:38 Sorry about your eyesight. It explains the CAPS. Your first question was what was there first. The houses or the gun range? I know of at least three homeowners in that area with deeds from the mid 50's.Am I to assume Libs would be upset Conservatives wouldn't mind all the noise?
Look for me they can shoot to their heart's content. I just don't want to listen to it. Poor ventilation, doors left open don't let your problem become mine.
Presently I will ask the council what is their position on this issue.
3:54 Can you legislate common sense?
7:02 I think 2:47 answered that.

@8:38 I knew the train tracks were near, and I knew Atwells was near. I knew how loud trains can be, but I never heard or realized how annoying and loud Atwells is. Nothing can be done about trains and airports, but Atwells could be a good neighbor and put in sound proofing which would greatly diminish the noise. Painesville should insist that they do. Atwells is annoying no small number of citizens. There is no excuse for the level of continuos noise they make!

701: I don't believe your from Berlin or have ever been to the town either. Mr . Carson was very highly though off in the community, and they were very sad to see him go. Several meetings were held to see if he could change his mind. I think you just want everything about your town Painesville to be bad or worst. Your a nay sayer and nothing else . Please don't pull our town into your fight, we would be very happy to have mr. Carson bac

Councilman DeLeone is a waste of a chair on council, as far as I am concerned. I was not happy to see him win the seat, and my concerns were confirmed when I called him about an issue. It was a waste of a phone call, as I was afraid it would be.

As far as Carson is concerned, I don't feel much better about him. I was happy to see him come, and to be getting rid of McMahon. I had no prior knowledge of him, but I had heard hopeful things. I had to make several phone calls to him concerning an issue, however, and was not only not impressed, I was left unhappy, and unimpressed.

And just a little note about Flock. When it came to his vote on whether he wanted former City Manager, Rita McMahon, to be named citizen of the year, or whatever it was, he abstained from the vote. Abstained. He wouldn't vote no. He just abstained. Unbelievable. She came here and ruined our city in every way possible. She has left us in a mess we won't be out of for another 50 years on top of everything else, and he abstained?

As to 8:38: Typical Republican. Even a concern about noise from a firing range brings out your accusations that its Liberals that are causing the problem. That's just stupid. It really is. Go back into your Republican cave.

IF you don't like it you should have thought about buying a house near a gun range before you did it. And unless you are wealthy you can not control what is built on vacant or new property. So stop complaining and play the lotto.

7:35 So a neighborhood can't control a public nuisance? That affect property values. Look it's not about gun rights it's about noise.
4:17 I agree with you I believe Mr. Carson should at least have a year before he is judged. Yes, residents of Berlin didn't want him to leave.
3:37 Without knowing the details of your phone call, always keep in mind the you need four votes.
At least give hime credit for not giving you false promises.
Andy Flocks the bad guy again? He abstained? But the other six voted yes. What does that make them? It wasn't a city honor and with Ms. McMahons history with Flock it appeared to be to be the best decision he could make. It kept it from being a unanimous vote from council.

Well let's give the metermaids a car and they can drive around and write tickets, snow ban tickets should at the least be $25.00.
