"ONE" (IS THE LONELIEST NUMBER) three dog night

In a little over a month a new council will be sworn in. This with one long time member leaving and one first time office holder taking his seat.

In the past year we also have a new city manager.

Now in the organization meeting it will come to pass that council will have to choose among themselves who would best serve as council-president and vice council-president. Presently Paul Hach is the vice council president.

Now without me eliminating anyone I ask you, who do you believe  would make the best choice to be the next council-president and why?

I see a lot of pluses and minuses for many members on council.

This time I hope council has the good sense to vote it in an open council meeting instead of in executive session.

Whoever it is I believe this new council will show more respect for each others as well as city residents. In the past there seems to have been to much "bullying".

I think myself and others would like to have you share your opinions.

This could be a new beginning.

It is my opinion that none of the current members of Council is really suited for the roll of President of Council.

Several of them are far too new (one is brand new)to Council and seemingly have no idea how it works or why they are there.

Two of them seem to view it as a step to somewhere else.

One (and maybe two) is completely out of favor with the others and it is hard to see a working relationship coming from it.

One says what ever they think will be what the voters want to hear.

At least two of them spent a lot of time looking at their phone or at the clock.

A strong LEADER is needed but it should also be a person who understands that there differing viewpoints on the issues before them. These views need to be heard.

Coming at it from this direction, it would appear as though Mr Fodor is the only choice that makes ANY sense. I say this while biting my tongue because I really don't think he would be a particularly good leader but, my hope is that he can be a consensus builder. At least that should allow for progress.

Should be interesting under the dome.

It's time that Councilman Flock step up he is the senior Councilman now. He has the experience and common sense to lead us in a new direction.

Andy has no chance in Hell of ever being council president. He cares to much for the residents. The new guy? Who's and where is the new guy.
Fodor? Great didn't he help screw up the schools? 50% chance tops. His favorite number. Seems "that's all I got"
DeLeone seem a good choice if we can't have Flock.
Jenkins can get a job at Franz's doing estimates, and Lori DiNallo's moving on anyway. Hach really? We are in trouble.

8:00. What could you know about Jenkins, or her history, I know a lot of her and her abilities and she would make a great leader. She is great at at taking care of problems . She is well organized and knows people . She can draw on others for what she needs to complete a task. With Hada gone there will be no one to set or block her. She will surprise people. But when it come time to pick a leader she will pick who will do the best. Lori is very good at her job and she to knows people and how to get things done. They both would do well

mr flock cares about the residents as he should be doing. all elected officials are elected by the people and for the people and are not supposed to be there for their own private agendas. mr flock has received calls from residents for help and the calls are from every ward not just his own ward #1. About time someone became the Leader for everyone in this city not just particular favorites.

5:57, are you Jenkins' mother? She has proven herself to be a failure, or rapidly on her way to total failure. Look how she votes. Useless.

To 6:56 am,
I am Katie's mother. Of course, I am one of her biggest fans, but she has obviously also impressed others because I did not write the 5:57 pm post. Katie is intelligent, organized, determined, talented, and dedicated to the people of Painesville. You may disagree with her past votes, but I promise you every vote has been well thought-out and researched. She takes her position on Council very seriously and, I’m sure, always votes her conscience. Trust me! Katie is not a follower.

8:00. Iam not her mother, but I would be proud to have that position. Again I don't know how you get your information about Mrs. Jenkins, but the person I know has put herself through two colleges and worked a full time job while getting a masters degree.that does not sound like a failure to me. She now works takes care of a new child, runs campaines for public office, two safety levies getting one passed plus goes to meetings as a concil women, and you call her a failure. I think this is a highly motivated women. Who as my ward person I have all the faith in to do a job for the entire city that she so loves..she votes as to what is best for all people not just one. If that is a failure I will work as hard as she does to be a failure in your eyes, but in my eyes and others she is a great leader and a great leader. You have the right to what you think, but you need to think carefully when you make the failure statement. As this can make you look very stupid, as most people like to believe they as not failures..Have A Nice Evening AND AHappy thanks giving

Mrs. Howlett, I believe you have raised a very fine daughter, you and her father should be very proud.
Katie took on this position of city council member she has to take the good with the bad.
Now when it comes to her AMP-OHIO position what exactly is it?
Look her first job is to look out for the city and it's residents, not make excuses for an outside organization. When it came to estimates her anology was off base. Forget the brake job. Andy received an estimate of $800.00 per set of tires. Now in this case Painesville was promised an estimate of $48.06 and received a final cost of between $70.00 and $104.00?
Would Katie buy a set of tires for $800.00 and agree to any price. Well the tires came due the cost went from instead of $800.00 she ended up with a bill of 1$1400.00 What would Katie have told the merchant? Would she say well OK? She had other places to buy tires but she chose this one because of the $800.00 estimate. That wasn't 10-20% over the estimate but almost double?
What harm could have come from sending a letter?
Now where did Katie get her information on this AMP-OHIO deal? Did she bother to ask anyone who didn't take the AMP position?
AMP suggested up until the end of September the city owed $39,000 Katie should have asked what about the end of October? Maybe if she did or even asked now she would be surprised.
Look Katie does a wonderful job of promoting Painesville, but she is in a position to watch over the finances of Painesville. Me, I care more about that then a carriage ride around the park.
We have to have our priorities right.

I like Katie, but I think Mr. Flock would be a better Council President. He has the experience and maturity to lead us in a new direction. I know Andy hasn't shown much interest in the Council Presidency, V.P. or committee positions in the past but Hada, Horvath and Delamotte are gone. It's time for Andy Flock to step up. If doesn't try for a leadership position or committee position then thats just going to fuel the rumors that he's not going to run for reelection.

Flock? Flock has been on council for over 20 years, and I don't think he has ever even attended a committee meeting, and I doubt you will find residents who say that he actually helped them. Let's just let that one fade away into obscurity, and hope the rumors that he isn't running again are true. I can't imagine that there is more than a handful of people who think Flock should be in charge. I vote "no" for Flock.
