"CENTERFIELD " john fogerty

Most people follow sports of one kind or another. Baseball, Football, Basketball, Soccer, you get the idea.
That do all sports have in common at any level.
The rules .....

How could we ever play if every county could make up it own rules? Lake County gave you three strikes, Geauga County gave you four strikes, Ashtabula County only gave you two. Same with everything from football to NASCAR all have to follow the same rules. It works.

Now lets talk politics and elections. Following the rules set down by sport leagues or bodies all rules are the same. Let's not bring up the designated hitter presently.

Shouldn't all counties in the State of Ohio have the same rules when it comes to voting?
Why do Republicans want to increase days to vote in heavily Republican counties but want to shorten voting days in Democratic counties? Doesn't seem fair but its legal.

Now, in heavily Democratic cities like Cleveland, Columbus, Akron and Toledo, early voting hours will be limited to 8 am until 5 pm on weekdays beginning on October 1, with no voting at night or during the weekend, when it’s most convenient for working people to vote. Republican election commissioners have blocked Democratic efforts to expand early voting hours in these counties, where the board of elections are split equally between Democratic and Republican members. Ohio Republican Secretary of State Jon Husted has broken the tie by intervening on behalf of his fellow Republicans.

‘I cannot create unequal access from one county board to another, and I must also keep in mind resources available to each county,” Husted said in explaining his decision to deny expanded early voting hours in heavily Democratic counties. Yet in solidly Republican counties like Warren and Butler, GOP election commissioners have approved expanded early voting hours on nights and weekends.

Maybe after rethinking my sports analogy I might be wrong. As in Baseball the big market cities are the "haves" and small market cities like Cleveland are the "have nots".

In Basketball players can manipulate the system to put together three or four future Hall of Famers to form "Super" teams with the rest of the teams viewed as calendar fillers.

But keep in mind they all have the same length of time and number of innings or miles that must be completed.

It's sad when a political party see as the only way to win elections ......is to simply cheat.
Yes, Cheat.

You have to wonder if all those proud and brave Americans who fought and died to keep this country free along with it equal rights intact must think?

I've heard a lot about voter fraud lately. I guess there are different forms of voter fraud? Right Jon Husted?

Because this city continues to become welfare capital of Ohio.

We are now ranked 586 out of 614 for school district median income level. We are now barely breaking $25,000 and our city leaders continue to do nothing about this. Our County Commissioners love it because it keeps all the other cities in Lake county ranked high.

You left a key ingredient out of this story. Even in Counties that Democrats had a vote like Butler or Warren the Dems went along with expanded voting. Tell you something about the Republicans.

And speaking of Republicans trying to stop legal votes--

I know Republicans don't like us to talk about it, but that is how G.W.Bush became president...by stopping the legal counting of votes. Would he have won if all the votes had been counted?...we do not know the answer to that question, because the R's STOPPED THE COUNTING OF LEGAL VOTES. So the Republicans have a long history of resorting to whatever lying and cheating they need to do to win elections. Look at the ad they are running right now about Obama stopping the "Work for Welfare" program. The ad is 100% not true, and the R's have been called out on it by just about every newspaper, etc., but they have just created a NEW ad with that information--no doubt counting on the fact that many voters are uninformed and will fall for the ad. And when I think of all the blatant lies that Karl Rove made up for GW to win the election, and how well GW told them all, it just scares me when I think about the future of this country--with so many people willing to lie and cheat to get what they want. I wouldn't vote Republican if my life depended on it.

5:09 why stop there I remember our council president throwing Mr Murphy under the bus the day before the election. If this is happening at our city level I hold out little hope for the country.
It's August and I am already politically saturated.....

Term, any truth that Joe Hada will be John Rogers coordinator for the Painesville area,in his run against Lori DiNallo? Heard it thru the grapevine.

Actually Hada and his bunch told lies about Murphy right before two different elections to keep him from winning. McMahon played along, also, let's not forget. Her statement went something like this when Murphy found out about it and took them to task--"I remember there was an incident, but I can't remember exactly what that incident was." Slither away already, Rita. Her and Hada make a good team in their snake den.

Yet--the good citizens of Painesville just keep voting in Hada and his bunch. And Hada and his bunch keep Rita on as city manager. Go figure.
