"DONE TOO SOON" neil diamond

It has been brought to my attention that Chester Legacy Restaurant has closed its door.
This is sad since it seemed to be a thriving establishment.
This place seemed to have a good clientele, the decor was welcoming, food was very good as well as  moderate prices all this along with a friendly staff.
A lot of money was invested in this establishment and the city should do everything in it's power to help find a new owner to re-open this business. Are you listening Doug Lewis Kathy Bieterman?

I talked with Dr. Hanlon  about the incident that took place near the end of school at Heritage Middle School. This  incident involved a teacher and a spouse. Dr. Hanlon assured me it was handled by the administration properly. He was unaware of any profanity students and staff might have heard. He also did not inform the parents of students who might have heard the commotion only because it was the end of the school year. Parents that may have questions please feel free to call the Board office.

"There was a study where 20,000 high school students were surveyed and asked what is the lowest grade they could get without facing problems with their parents," he said. "Asian students said A minus, white students said B minus and African American and Latino students said C minus." He wondered how someone can meet their career aspirations when a C minus is acceptable.

Questions about Heritage?
Any about all the police, metropark rangers and employees swarming the last days?
Any about the search of personal things: backpack/purses? Any about all the board office supervisors being there? Lots going on with the kids, the adults should be the least of a problem. These kids are out of control, watch them leaving everyday walking down Liberty & Cedarbrook. When I sell my house I can only hope it will be in the summer so the behavior won't be an issue.

Its the neighborhood ..it could not sustained the restaurant ...a better fit would be more of a Tony Subway in/ Liberty bar.. it would be better suited for that neighborhood.

Hanlon is a liar!!!!!!

Are you telling me 60 students heard the same profanity laced attack directed towards a staff member and Hanlon is not aware. If that's the case why do we need him.
His response was a blatant LIE!!!

5:27 So the cars that filled the parking lot were a mirage?
I think after the orginal owner passed away the management in place after his death failed to operate the business the way it should have been run.
4:58/5:37 There is a board meeting every month on the second Monday of the month. I believe you are concerned about your property values, also parents that are concerned about their childrens safety should attend and at this meeting let your concerns be known. Please do not think this blog. can solve these issues. Only the community can.

As for Chester's, we used to love it and eat there all the time until the owner passed and the new management started doing reservations only and turning regular customers away because we didn't have a reservation.

This is nuts. Am I to believe a person here believes you Term who was not at the school during this incident and when you had the conversation with Dr. Hanlon YOU should have called him a liar?
I know your nuts but your not that nuts.

We've been going to Chester's two or three times a month for dinner, for the past couple of years, and were never turned away for lack of a reservation. And we noticed a big improvement in the food (not that it was ever bad, mind you) once the employees took over. We don't know the details of what happened, but we are very sad about the closing. Chester's deserved to make it. Good food, good drinks, moderate prices, very friendly service from people who became our friends. It was our "go-to" place - close to home, always good, it was always fun to be greeted with genuine warmth by staff who were glad to see us. We knew something was wrong when we went in a couple of weeks ago to find several of our favorites dropped from the menu . . . Our hope is that somehow Chester's can reopen, as itself. We don't need another Mexican restaurant or a Melt. Chester's was the perfect neighborhood bar/restaurant, and we miss it already. And we worry about the staff - we are sending hugs and well wishes to all of them.

Funny no mention of the food fight at Heritage last Tuesday? Ask Dr. Hanlon about that.

Looks like legal problems for Chester's. Look up case number 11CV002702 in Lake County Common Pleas Court . . . makes me want to take a day off work and go pull the file and see what's what. Public record, you know.

I am very sorry to see Chester's close.. It was a great restaurant. The closing had nothing to do with the neighborhood. It was everything a good restaurant should be...good food, comfortable, a friendly and competent staff that made you feel at home. It was a P'ville "Cheers".
It is a shame because the employee did everything right.

The closing of Chester's had nothing to do with the neighborhood or the need for reservations. The employees did everything right. It is the owners that messed up a very good thing.
Chester's had everything going for it- good food,
comfortable, warm and friendly competent staff. It was like a P'ville "Cheers". It was a plus for this community and will be missed!

It's too bad we can't keep a good American-Style restaurant in this town. I still remember Carlisle's hamburgers, King's Choice-deep dish apple pie-YUM. Someone had asked me once why we go out of town for dinner, so simple, there's nothing here and what is here one can only go there so much. Mentor has far more choices.
Agree with other poster NO More Mexican diners.

Food fight? Why not? Every kid is ENTITLED to a free lunch and breakfast. Their parents didn't have to pay for the waste, WE DO.
If all can afford the shoes, games, ebooks and phones that come into the building, they can buy a jar of peanut butter and jelly too. Not to mention all the cash they have to buy handfuls of junk food snacks. This free stuff needs to stop and their parents need to be responsible.
