"IT'S ALL OVER NOW" rolling stones

I receive the newsletter from the Heisley Park Homeowners Association. Maybe this is another way to inform residents of what may be in their future.
Funny, The News-Herald does a front page article about zoning yet fails to mention anything about something that will cost us 1.2 million? Reminds me of when the AMP-OHIO debate was taking place. They never mentioned anything until the deal fell through. Wonder who's telling them what to print?

City of Painesville Items

The City Budget – As we continue to indicate,
Painesville has approved a budget for 2011. But,
there is still concern that the state cuts will limit
funds to the city. As such we can expect the shortfalls
to put pressure on spending for road and
other city improvements. Time will tell what the
details of the budget cuts reveals and how Council
will address the anticipated additional funding
problems. (See water infrastructure “solution”
below”) Stay tuned!

City to have Curbside Recycling – We are reminding
all readers that later this summer (probably
June/July) Painesville residents will get curbside
recycling. Residents will be asked to split their
trash into regular garbage and recyclable items.
Garbage will continue to go into the green garbage
cans. Residents will also be provided additional
green cans with yellow covers for recyclable items.
The city will have at least 10 routes for recyclable
collections. These collections for residents will be
every other week rather than every week. Regular
garbage will be collected weekly.

Water Bills to Increase - If City Council gets their
way, water rates will increase by $10 per month for
every homeowner (water customer). At the last
council meeting, City Council proposed passing an
ordinance - ORDINANCE: ENACTING SECTION
933.191 RELATING TO INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENT
FEE. This ordinance will not be based on
usage but a flat fee per account. So, every homeowner
and business (e.g., factories; apartment
building owners) will incur a $10 a month ($120 per
year) increase in their water bill. In some instances,
a resident will be hit with a $20 a month ($240 per
year) increase if they have a meter for their sprinkler
system. This planned increase will result in about
$1.2 Million dollars for city infrastructure improvements
for the city. There is no doubt that the city
needs to fund its water delivery infrastructure improvement.
But, some of the residents at the April
17, 2011 meeting questioned whether this was the
fairest way to obtain the necessary funding. Why
shouldn’t it be based on usage? Wouldn’t that
cause the cost to be borne on who used the most
water? Wouldn’t it allow apartment dwellers in the
city to share in the cost of improvements for the
water they use? And, why shouldn’t businesses
(factories and restaurants) provide more funding
based on usage and their ability to spread the
cost over their client and product base?
What is striking to this reporter is that members of
council didn’t seek resident input prior to proposing
this legislation. Mr. Angelo Cimaglio who addressed
council at the meeting pointed out that
they appeared to take the easy approach to solving
this issue rather than come up with the best
solution for residents.
There will be a subsequent discussion at the next
council meeting on this issue with the planned
second reading. Hopefully, all residents who
have a concern about this issue will attend the
next council meeting. It is scheduled to be held
on Monday, May 2, 2011.

I strongly suggest anyone that has an interest in this issue call or e-mail their councilperson to put their view on record.

I stumbled across this article on a website, freakonomics.com, that I frequent. This is kind of interesting when considering the $10 monthly water fee the City is adding.

WHAT HAPPEND TO THE ALLMIGHTY TERMY

TERY, has been busy with other things. Plus now you can't complain about me complaining right?

If it weren't for all the complaining, the would be nothing for him to do or write about. I'm wondering if the News Herald's "Fix this Now" will put Term out of business? How shameful.
Does the city still have that day where people can come in and be the CM and a department head for a day? If so, I think those of Term and the likes should do that. Spend the day and see just what it is like to the one of them, then maybe you would understand what it's like.

To all P'ville elected Council
Members.
Take your Idea of a 10.00 across the Board Fee and Strangle US? As stated before: WHY should we the People/Business be subjected to Higher Rates to (flat rates) for the inept and negligent attention to the Infrastructure?
All of you have seen the negligence for way too many years and now you want to push this on we the people??
Tough Luck Council - This is on your Shoulders because you knew for many many years that the old infrastructure was a collapse Issue.
Get off of all of your LAZY Butts and take the ABSOLUTE BLAME for your trying again to Force on the Residents/Business Rate Increases/Flat Fees to Exempt yourselves from (again and always)your Responsibilities to spend our tax Dollars on the Most Important base issues.
RITA the CM - you have absolutely no educative degrees to manage this city or any other community.

Shame on you? Most department heads are well rewarded for the jobs they do. I'll take $90,000 a year to have the city manager look over my shoulder daily and tell me what to do.
This city is going to Hell in a Handbag and all we do reward them further.
Council had better grab the reins before all these "carpetbaggers" run this city into the ground.

Terms right along with the rest of us. Drive down a Painesville street and tell me they are being mantained? Wheres the street sweeper? There's a hole on Cedarbrook to the east of Cedarbrook school that can ruin a car where's the repair. I have now realized what's going on its all for the city and the residents be damned!

To all these city empolyees who think their jobs tough look around and find a REAL way to make a living.

To "Shame on You said..." I don't believe you are a resident of Painesville or ever shop in our city. If you did, you would realize, all Term is doing is trying to make our city better!

10:18 AM Did you call and tell them about the hole ?
If not then, shut the front door...

I still want to know where all the money that we have been charged since 2007 for the water infrastructure is. The rates went up so there would be extra money for that, and now not a word about that and that money. They are acting like this is a whole new issue and needs all new money. So we will continue to be charged the previous extra rates, and now something new on top of that, without a word to tell us where that money went and why is not enough now?

10:18 Yeah why didn't you report it? It's only like police cars city inspector, school buses haven't reported it now it's your job. I for the life of me don't believe the city isn't aware of the hole, along with others in the city.

12:05 Thanks for the kudo's. Problem seems to be many don't want to hear the truth of the condition the city presently is in. They want "Good" residents that smile and tell them what a wonderful job their doing.....As they load up the trailor to head out of Dodge.
People better wake-up before nothings left to save.

Term your comment at 3:45 PM, is why things are the way they are, there is no way that all of the city workers can know where all of the problems are, it is up to all of us to help make are city better, I have called about many things like holes & trash in the streets, street lights out, signs that are down, water leaks and crime, they have always taken care of my calls, and if they did not I would have called them again, why do you say you care and then post that remark,
you are UN-REAL.

Kudo's my ____. You hit the nail on the head when you said "I'll take $90,000 a year to have the city manager look over my shoulder daily and tell me what to do".
The non-term following knows you are nothing but green with envy of any employee who has it better than you. You are jealous of their titles, educations, positions, salaries, benefits, etc., etc., etc.
As for the one who thinks I am anon-resident, think again. I have lived here since grade 1, attended Lathrop, Walnut, Harvey and have taken classes at LEC. I shop at Gartman's, buy Dunkin Donuts coffee, stop at Subway, T&T & Jimmmy' for lunch, work, bank & get my hair done downtown. The only thing Term is doing is making things worse for him. He is a laughing-stock.
And if he is soooo great, why didn't he co-ordinat a May Day event. Look up the origination of May Day- most of the original settlers of Painesville would agree we needed to do this today.

Shame? Green with envy? more like red with anger. It is will known in the city that the city manager micro-manages the whole place. How is it that I'm jealous because I point out the faults around here?
I'm a laughing-stock? Painesville and the people in charge are the true laughing stock.
I never mentioned I was sooo great about anything.
Funny do you still live in the city presently? Do you and your family have to drink the water on Elm St.? Do you not drive down the streets of Painesville? Do you have to wait 10 minutes for an ambulance at Cobblestone? Does your basement flood everytime theres a heavy rain? Do you send your children to the lowest rated school system in the area? Yeah I'm the laughing stock alright maybe for the reason of putting up with it.
As far as your wages and titles, congratulations, now with all the loss revenue from the economy and state budget cuts what will be your answer on how to keep funding your circus?
May Day? There having I celebration for people who contibute to Downtown Painesville this week at Morley. Ask them the kind of job your doing? They will blow smoke up your &%$ to make you feel important.

Term I'm with Shame. You are a laughing stock .... but for the wrong reason. In your heart you believe there is still hope for Painesville. Sorry your on the Titanic. No one listens because no one cares. If you really wanted to do a service for the people in town that you care about tell them to get out proto. Leave it to the directors and officals they have screwed it up enough already

Thanks for agreeing - too bad for the caustic answer back though.

Carpetbaggers great term, Term. It is funny that the second in command in Painesville makes over 90g's lives over 60 miles aeay. We can only hope we don't supply him with a vehicle? Gas?
