"CRYSTAL BLUE PERSUASION" tommy james

I wish I could tell you 8-4 12:19.... Anymore than the News-Herald reporter did. All and all he did a pretty good job. I don't think there was one person in the room who wasn't somewhat confused, including the people making the presentation. They did everything in their power to not use the word "fine." At a council meeting last month the city manager made the statement that our part of the fine was $4,200.00 now at Mondays meeting we first were told that amount plus $75,000.00 later it was revised to $85,000.00 plus the $4,200.00? We were led to believe this was an energy saving program, truth is the only thing we seem to be saving is AMP's rear-end. The only thing missing from that meeting was Vito holding a violin case, and Sal holding on to his lapel. We want you to instead of paying the $89,000 to become "Full -Partners and pay $350,000 for the next three years? Hey maybe we'll just pay our part of the mitigation "fine" and move on. Well, that number could change and be a lot higher, we don't really know how much you'll end up paying? Becoming a "Full- Partner is a good idea I believe? But, we really don't want to spend this kind of money, Oh, I believe it would be in Painesville best interest to go our way. Hey don't forget about the "special" light bulbs along we the rebate for that old refrigerator in the garage. I asked three other people who watched the proceedings and we all got the impression the city manager along with the council president were leaning to become "Full Partners."
One thing you can count on from AMP is never getting a final cost.
Someone from the Justice Department should ask for AMPS records as to how much steam they have sold to nearby industries over the past 22 years, along with records of what AMP charged it "communities" to run Gorsuch? Finally what is AMPS exposure in this fine and mitigation? Seems they passed all that to trusting communities?
This is the cartoon can't wait for the main feature "MEIGS COUNTY"

Checked with the board of elections this morning the two Charter changes passed mustard and will be on the November ballot. Wow! that wasn't that hard after all. Didn't Mr. Werner promise a charter change for a Mayor instead of a City Manager? Go for it Hal I like to see you keep one promise. Win or lose let them know we will hold them responsible.

As far as the school levy, why wait until the last day to get on the ballot. What's the big secret? There must be an interesting reason. I wonder if this is the transparency the board talked about?

An editorial in the News-Herald yesterday concerning illegal immigration they mentioned an F.B.I. program called "secure communities"
basically it check's F.B.I. criminal records. Watch Ms. Dahlberg come out of the bushes over this. You have to wonder If our Sheriff along with the County Commissioners would go for this program? No money, along with not wanting to upset their campaign contributors in the east end of the county?
I would be willing to make a donation to this program just to end the "How do you know their illegal?"

Town Hall meeting last month at Andy Flocks house was one of the better ones in a while. Another councilman attended and almost jump out of their skin when a middle-aged lady alleged that a city building inspector told her she was from her insurance company taking pictures of her yard? We wondered what qualifications this inspector carried top receive her almost $50,000 a year job from the city? She sure isn't the welcome wagon. Off hand I believe this employee needs some training on respecting her real employers the taxpayers of Painesville. Other stories were told about this inspector the ones on Fobes St. was the best. A resident asked if you complained would there be any repercussion? I will show her the four pictures of the 100 new sidewalk blocks that we installed last year with another alleged city employee explaining who was the cause of all this.
One resident complained about a conversation he had with a police officer, he felt all residents were treated as crack heads or bums.
To respond last month my grandson who's two loves are trains, and fire engines was treated to a great conversation with a caring Painesville firefighter at the station. He left that meeting with a lot more respect for what our safety forces do.

We need to find out how much we owe for the Meigs nightmare. The fact that we don't know already is reason enough to get rid of McMahon without even mentioning everything else. We need to find out how much we owe there, then we need to get her butt out of office NOW. Or maybe we need to get her butt out of office NOW so we CAN find out how much we owe in the Meigs deal. I also think we need to recall everyone who got us into these deals. I think a mayor is a good idea, although I like the idea of having someone who has training in this area. Or maybe there is someway to take back the extra power they gave her a while back. Then we could fire her and hire someone we could trust. We really must do something now before these fools get us into this new three year deal with AMP. If Hal actually DOES try to do something he promised and turn this into a city with a mayor at the head, we could just hire someone with the training. Or does a mayor have to be elected.
At any rate, what ARE the possibilities here. This woman has got to go. She says at a council meeting that we owe a few thousand dollars for this plant mess and come to find out it's $85,000.00?! How has she continued to get away with this stuff for so long? Really, she's got to go. Who knows more about this stuff than me? What are the possibilities?

This is 8-14 12:19:
Just wanted to clear up that I was not trashing the News-Herald reporter. I was trashing our scary, evasive, underhanded city manager and the council. I think Jacob Lammers actually did an unbelievably good job on that article -- actually a pretty miraculous job. The fact that he was able to put together the purposefully confusing, evasive information that was given out at the meeting in the cohesive way that he did is pretty impressive. Reading the article you can see what he had to deal with. I read the article three different times before I could start putting together the information. Had he not written it so well, I still would not be able to figure it out given the stealth tactics that our city government is using. I still don't know how he made sense of it enough to get it on paper as well as he did.
So thanks, Jacob for the great reporting.
As for our city leaders - I meant what I said - McMahon, Hada, etc., need to go. Who these people are and what they are doing to our city is outrageous - truly outrageous.

When Hal Werner was running for council, he said he wanted to get rid of McMahon. As SOON as he got into office, he started singing her praises and kissing her ... feet. He said whatever he needed to say to whomever he needed to say it to to get help with his election work and to get votes. I wouldn't count on him for much, that's for sure.

How does $4200.00 become $89,000.00and then being told spending a million is the way to go?
Hal's only concern is to be re-elected period!

The article in the paper was very vague about both issues facing Painesville voters. I want to read how these items will look when I step into the voting booth.

WELLLL...Maybe Hal found out that council and the city manager are doing a better job than he thought and there isn't as big a need for changes as he thought.
Guess the grass IS greener on the other side!!

WELLLL....11:48 Thats a possibility, and if its what he found he should make a statement to clear it up.
I think the city manager just intimidates him, along with him wanting to be looked positively on by the "movers & shakers" Sorry, I can't let that one go!

At August 6, 2010 at 3:23 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

WELLLLL..... If Hal now believes the grass is greener, its time for Hal to step down or away. This city is presently in my eyes mismanaged to the point of no return. Term, why not also explain the 10 million dollars she now wants to spend to get rid of the meter readers?

11:28: You're kidding me, right? Have you seen what is going on in this city???!!! Has Hal done anything to stop it? As I said before, the only thing good about Hal being there is that it got Horvath out. That's it. Hal is despicable. You must be Hal or Hal's wife. I don't know of anyone else who would stick up for him.

This Amp deal reminds me of that one car commercial
"you can buy this, or you can buy that"
your not leaving without buying.

Hals got his problems but "despicable"?
It seems he might have just got caught up in the position.
He must remember, He still pays a buck for a double cheeseburger at McDonald's councilman or not.
There are very few perks with his position. Don't promise what you can't deliver.

At August 7, 2010 at 12:08 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Yes despicable. He told every lie that he needed to to get people to help with his campaign and get him elected. As SOON as he got elected, he threw everyone and everything under the bus and took his seat at the table for his own benefit only. He knew when he was making all those promises that he had NO intention of delivering them - he just wanted to be elected for Hal's sake. He's one of the creepiest people I've ever known. He's very smooth, though. Had a lot of people buffaloed during the election. It took him less than 24 hours to start throwing people under the bus. Yep - despicable.

I have a pretty good idea who you are, and I believe the main reason we aren't better friends is that I won't agree 100% of the time with you about people or issues.
I believe it works better for us this way. For Hal to garner your support he might have promised you something he couldn't deliver.
Thats his mistake.

This is 12:08 to Term 4:10: Yes, you probably do know who I am, and that is not the reason that you and I are not friends. There are much bigger reasons. I support wholeheartedly most of what you do on this blog, however, and your efforts on behalf of the city. I can't even begin to think what would be going on if it weren't for you and John Murphy and a few others paying attention and fighting the good fight.

As for Hal, he promised me things he KNEW he had no intentions of delivering on when he was promising them. It was no error or mistake. He also promised everyone he would help get rid of McMahon. He never had any intention of doing that, either.

11:42 I hope your talking about automated meters? The city manager will make a full presentation to council on automated electric and water meters a total of about 22,000 meters the city reads. She claims savings of $500.000 over a period of time. Seems presently a little over kill when your letting some get away with electric bills in the thousands. One feature that the city manager brought up was that services could be shut off to any meter from city hall. Are these meters made in in United States? What are their failure rate? will customers be responsible for them? Presently we need this like another.....

So sorry to keep repeating myself but all you "armchair" politicians really need to get a reality check.
I am NOT Hal, Hals wife, Hals neighbor or even hals friend.
So until you have walked in others shoes put up or shut up. And if you can do better do so and run for council to make a change otherwise kwityerbellyakin.

To 12:13: If it's okay with you that Werner lied to get the position, then is it also okay with you that there is so much lying and deceit going on in our city government?
We need to keep Werner in office until we get rid of the rest of the people who are running this town into the ground. (Do you see a hospital any more, Dawn?) I'll say again that the only good thing about Werner being in office is that it got Horvath out, and he (Werner) wasn't hand-picked by Hada, McMahon, etc. (Let's all remember how Horvath wrote a letter saying that we love our illegals and that we didn't want anything done to get them out. Then he went on and boldly lied and lied about it, until Veronica Dahlberg stood up right after one of those lies and admitted she wrote the letter.)
I'm not the only one who was deceived by Werner, and I'm not the only one who helped get him into office that is ashamed of that fact.
If the cheating and the lying is okay with you, Dawn, then I think you are certainly not the kind of person that I would listen to and certainly not the type of person that I would take advice from.
P.S. How much DO we owe AMP for the Meigs plant, Dawn? Yes, by all means, lets be grateful for the shady, God-only-knows-WHAT-is-going-on-behind-the-scenes people that are running our city right into the ground. We now know that we owe AMP $89,000 for one disaster, but we still can't figure out how many millions we ower for the other one AND they are talking about getting into ANOTHER deal with AMP. I suggest you get informed, Dawn, and quit talking about things you know nothing about.

NEWS FLAS; What politician doesn't lie? This is nothing new, have you gone after Strickland or Obama too?
Dawn is INFORMED. How long have you been a resident?? She came here in emementary school, graduated here, attended college here, raised very successful children who graduated top of their class at Harvey (in the 90's well before the 50%), has family, works, prays and plays in this city.
I DO see a lot of things wrong with this city, illegals as the biggest.
What did you want the hospital to do? They left - they wanted to leave, nothing anyone said or did could make them stay. GET OVER IT. MOVE ON. They aren't coming back so it's time to let go, so quit beating a dead horse. Quit living in the past it's done and gone.
I do see a lot of things wrong with all other cities too.
The only real wrong thing here is all of the negative talk that goes on. Doesn't the News Herald and the out-of towners (Mentorites, Concordians, TWPers) do enough of that? Do they really need the residents that continually bash this town too? Don't like it? LEAVE
CAN'T because you can't sell your property, that's no ones fault but your own. Quit blaming others for your problems. Take ownership of your own situation.
We VOTE our council people in and they are bashed too. Seems some people are never happy with anyone. Who do you want on council? Give the new ones a chance, they haven't been in office that long. I for one am glad those that have ran in the past did not get elected. Now if only someone would beat out Flock. He is against everyone and every thing no matter what. We need people who work together not push against every issue as he has done. Can't accomplish something with someone always going against the grain as he does.
Take a look at Term's ladst paragraph/2:24pm. His grandson "left a meeting with a lot more respect". How many of you bloggers take an active interest in this city and do something like this? Most people sit behind their computer and throw stones rather then getting up and meeing with our city employees, staff and administration and finding out what they are really like.
Don't want to? Then carry on sitting and typing all your gripes.

So your idea is to get rid of the only person thats been on council more than five years with any common sense?
As a long time Painesville resident and former homeowner in Ward 1 Andys not going anywhere, people trust his judgement.
I have worked for Lake Health for almost 35 years and let me tell you the hospital didn't want to move. The city manager was very uncooperative with the board over expansion. They chose to move rather then fight with the city leadership and moved on.
It didn't have to be this way. Ms. MsMahon figured what are they going to do? Leave, they did.
Our town is presently headed in the wrong direction if you haven't noticed Dawn, whey do you think the illegalls moved here the climate? The administration fosters the crime.

I agree that Mr Flock is the only one on council that has any guts. The jury's still out on the two newest members....I'm sure they are on a steep learning curve. They both seem intelligent and are the only other ones that ever ask any questions. Still not enough for a majority though. Can't wait until we see a different kind of 4 - 3 vote....they'll have their work cut our for them cleaning up the mess....
