"ONE TOKE OVER THE LINE"

If theres a bigger waste of trees than the News-Herald, oops! forgot the Painesville Pride.
I can understand why they are going out of business. In todays Comment section 03/08/09 David W. Jones column "Lake-Geauga: Be seated"
I have no idea where he gets some of his information. Whats to become of Concord Twp.? He has it becoming a city and the new county seat with all the county offices, new Courthouse, Jail, County Comminssion, Election Board. Ect. First off Mr. Jones most of the people living in Concord moved there to get away from cities. Another idea he fostered was that Painesville and Concord merge into one city? David I know people out in Concord that don't even want to use the same zip code. Lake and Geauga becoming one county? I don't think so.
All this because of the JEDD agreement? Davy heres something to ponder. The Jedd area wants Painesville Power { that went off again in parts of Painesville, and Perry tonight} The waste water from the new hospital will go where? Even with the fact that Painesville WWTP is only operating at 50%.[ on top of losing the hospital business in October] Yes its going to Chardon, wonder who missed that one at city hall. They say this site is all rumors. What then is your paper Davy Jones?

I am wishing the township would annex Casement Ave. back.......
again we are out of power......

still our road is closed; going on two years.....

the Main Street hill is in such dis-repair I wonder about the people using the cemetery; wouldn't want to take my last ride up that road! Just put $274 into to the front stabilizers on my car.... my mechanic loves me and probably sends a thank you to the city of Painesville!

watching the garages collapse in on themselves in the condos has been entertaining this winter..... when does this become a hazard?

have you seen the sidewalks on the Main Street Hill? Heaven help you if try to walk down to Your Vine or Mine or Joughin' or Grande Designs?

the street floods from curb to curb on Casement..... glad we are at the top of hill

watching the geese nest in the flooded condos at the bottom of hill, can hardly wait for mosquito season....... who needs a law to determine this as a wetlands, the geese seem much smarter than those at city hall .......

sign me really angry
as the power went off as I was finalizing my taxes!

have at it JT....... figure you will be on this like a pit bull on a baby.......

Ok then lets go.

1. Is the road closed due to safety, or a desire to interfere with the lives of the residents. Heck, open it up and then and put a sing at the top, drive at your own risk. Lemings.

2. You don't fix road when there is freezing and thawing like this. The freezing heaves the roads with all the water. I know the roads are bad, but fixing it now is throwing good money after bad.

3. The garages, thanks Gibbs, aka roadblock, for that.

4. The water collection, what do you expect anyway? Thank the people that developed the area in the first place for building it like a bowl. I used to live on Steele Ave. after the flood and it was not that bad, so I have room to talk.

5. I am truly sorry that your tax work was ruined due to the power outage. Reality. I do not know the cause of the outage but every year at this time there are those problems. People want salted roads. That salt gets on the utility poles and absorbs into the wood. When we have big rains the rain soaks the poles and the poles loose their ground, fact not fiction. Then some blow, just a cost of doing business.

6. Pit bull on baby, nice analogy. I thought I was just making lemonade out of lemons all this time. JT

Speaking of Millstone did the people get there money yet? The people of Painesville have already given the shaft by Rita, Wheres the money?

At March 9, 2009 at 10:36 AM , Blogger Big John said...

The last I read about Millstone is that the money was allocated but it was help up. The agreement was that all parties that owned down there MUST agree to take the payoff amounts for all to be included. Since Gibbs did not, then no one got paid and they all still either technically own them, or are being foreclosed. Sad situation for those that did not have the money to throw away like that. But I guess Gibbs has enough and was not worried about the others. I will be honest to say that I do not know the current state of the lawsuit and can only say that I hope the people get some relief eventually. JT

JT. I'm pretty sure March 13,2009 this Friday is the next court date. I do not see anyone getting any money for at least a couple of more years. That brings up two questions. What does Mr. Gibbs plan to prove? How does our CM make a deal on land she has no deed too? alot of that going around.

At March 10, 2009 at 2:49 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Term, get off the City Manager hate bandwagon already. It's getting old. She didn't "make a deal" with that land. All owners agreeing was the stipulation the Feds put on the money. She could have just left those property owners out in the cold.

At March 10, 2009 at 3:24 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

First off no hate for the City Manager, She did make a deal with land she did not have title to, plus the city is the only one whos seems to have made out on this deal so far.
To criticize is not hate and asking questions is not disrespect.

At March 10, 2009 at 5:15 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

You have gone past criticzing the CM

At March 10, 2009 at 5:24 AM , Blogger Big John said...

What I understand is that the grant money that is to be received is to be used for park like setting and with no permanent fixtures that could impede the flow of water. This move was a smart one and hopefully put in place some good where so much bad had happened. The "CM" did not really "make a deal". It was more like no one was really going to be able to re-build down there and who in their right mind would develop it anyways? If not for the City stepping in and WORKING WITH THE HOMEOWNERS ASSN. then they might all be adrift, pun intended. The City could have just as easily let the people fend for themselves but with the ability to network and get things done, they will see the reward someday. Could have been sooner if not for Gibbs.

Figures that the court date is Friday the 13th, no? Anyway, Gibbs is just doing it because he can. Just the way he has handled the other properties around town, on 84 by Cherrytree and out on Johnnycake Ridge. I can not tell you what drives a man like that to do something for no other reason than hate. It is totally baffling to someone like me. If it were me in Gibbs' shoes I would be taking into account the other people and their financial situations. If I had his money I would be willing to take a total loss if I knew that all those people would be better off. But I don't have his money...maybe that's why I think this way. JT

from my end.......

this is not about hate or disrespect, this is about watching a town that seemed to be coming back up now deteriorating again.

It's aggravating and it's sad and most of all frustrating.

This isn't even about the personal stuff I get frustrated with, like composting, alternate energy, community gardens, a community pool a decent community/senior center.

We invited a real estate broker to the old homestead last fall to see about listing the house and then decided to wait on the market.

We were told the Main Street Hill was going to be paved, we were told the condos would be turned into wetlands.

Even if and when the market does turn around our street is a far cry from where it was just 5 years ago.

My frustration is that of feeling trapped. We have just about rebuilt our house from basement up. I wish I had a nickel for every phone call I get telling me they are lost in Painesville....... follow the pot holes. Even the window guy is still wandering around and never made it.

after 25 years and investing in the city we are mad, and frustrated.

oh and Sweet Jesus has nothing to do with it..........
still retaining a wry sense of humor in these trying times........

and JT this has nothing to do with safety and everything to do about money.

Mad Potter, to put it out there I agree with you on most of your points and used to live off Main St. myself for a short stint. You have invested your time effort and money into a town that is on the cusp of being great again. All I have been preaching here is that maybe take a positive approach to attacking the problems is all. I like the community garden idea, I would be there. Composting and alt. energy sound good. But I also have to know that some decisions will be made without my input and that money will drive the cart 99% of the time. And I know that the reason that Casement is not fixed is due to cost, however it remains closed for safety reasons. I could see the City just closing it for good and ending it once and for all, not that I agree with it but what should I do otherwise. Cry and complain, or make the best out of it? I just choose to make the best and move to something I can fix.

KAREN, I hope you find your way in this world, I really do, if for no other reason than for your own happiness.

Thought I was reading an installation of; As The Stomach Turns. Or maybe more appropriate; Gypsy's Tramps and Thieves...... There is no drama in the garden or the studio like there is here......

The News Herald says it all about Millstone this morning. The City took a loan to do this that they have to pay back, they won't turn a profit. So why else do it...to help the residents and make a nicer Painesville. Just like I said. Am I "righteous" or just right, and does that bother you that I won't print false information?

Also I posted a comment about the electric bill at 215 E. Jackson St.and was very in depth about what I learned. BUT, it disappeared, I got the bar across the top that said it was save for the administrator, so I am not sure what happened to it. JT

At March 12, 2009 at 9:25 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

JT. Sorry, nothing came thru about the electric bill, I have no clue. On the Millstone property above you stated it was a loan, a few posts up you said it was a grant? I having a hard time following this. At council the CM said NO city money would be used, why is there a loan than???

JT. could you please resend what you leared about the electric bill? I'll do my best to post it .
Thanks TERM>>

JT, what is so annoying about you is that you think you are so much better than us. At least that is how you come across. High and mighty and righteous and always right. That is annoying and growing old.

At March 12, 2009 at 11:08 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I bet JT never sent anything through on the electric bill. He is just saying that to justify not coming up with an answer.

Lets JT. a brake I've been having trouble retriving my mail for the last couple of days, It could be my fault. JT. Madpotter, charterlady, eveyone has a voice that we should hear out. The problem seems to many have the attitude my way or the highway! That what keeps us from making progress. As far as JT.'s positives you sometimes have to wonder, what?

At March 12, 2009 at 3:12 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Term, why ream out everyone but JT? His attitude is my way or the highway so he is no better. You are helping to inflate his ego even further, and knock down everyone else's.

I ream out everyone but JT.? The point here is to not reem out anyone if I do I'm sorry. JT. is Mr. Positive sometimes I cant even figure it out. A friend mentioned to me that if JT. was on the Titanic he would have looked for the captain and thanked him for giving him such a close view of an iceberg. He seems to be genuine. I really do want to hear his respose to 215 E. Jackson St.
