"HERE WE GO AGAIN" isley brothers
And everything is going wrong
Oh, nobody knows the way you feel...
Before we go any further, I have to ask who were the people that viewed the building contract to that service garage, and when did it become apparent to those in charge that they needed another $600,000?
I can only imagine the finger pointing.
Every once in a while someone asking an innocent question that has a tendency to open ones eyes. Like having an epiphany.
Years ago as council considered the contract with AMP-OHIO former councilman Andy Flock questioned "what happens if the plant isn't built?" To that the answer was howls from many, administration, other's on council AMP officials and some in the audience. Well as we have learned it wasn't built and Painesville was left holding the bag for 2.1 million dollars. Not so funny now is it?
Remembering back that was the innocent question that got me questioning.
Now as I sat in the Planning Commission Meeting I listen closely and had interior as well as exterior drawings in hand.
Very innocently a former city councilman who once lived near 265 N. State St. asked where will the garbage dumpster and used grease be stored? With a simple answer "We can deal with that easily". Really? No outside dumpster but will be stored inside until collection? Maybe in a storage room with fresh products? That special moment was there again as I had felt 10 years earlier, they hadn't considered it or they hoped one else would? It'd a safe assumption that no one from the administration and the planning commission had either. But there it was now what? I looked at my interior drawing I don't think the architect considered it either. Yes the obvious was there, financing parking but little matters like rubbish and delivery's seem to be lacking? So this maybe not as well thought out as we were told. Wonder what else hasn't been thought out?
24/7 operation of this "incubator" was never really explained sufficiently. The why and how many at 3:00 AM in the morning for that matter was clearly not explained. Even will HOLA have staff on site at three in the morning.
Again on the drawing I see no delivery door, and where is that second emergency exit?
Deep in the halls at city hall a decision was made that this project didn't warrant more then the minimal from our city government, especially council!
With the famous Painesville thought "WHAT COULD GO WRONG?"
HOLA has received support letters from Geneva, Chardon, Hawken * School even the Perry Public Library. Yes a few even from Painesville itself. I need to find out what a Mexican Popsicle is?
So it was decided to run this by Planning and not even get the 'Rubber Stamper Council" involved. We do want to be invited to the ribbon cutting! Or don't want to be viewed as Anti -Hispanic?
Public Hearing? Why ask to get the public involved.
A public hearing should be held and do all of us a favor leave the kids at home! Yes even the Three Amigo's!
But that will be left up to 7 people who seem to find time for Executive Sessions, but questions from resident's not so much. 8 days left to ask for a public hearing PCCRS'er can't wait to reach zero.
Have heard today that Republic Services has sent out around 500 SI (service interruption) letter's to Painesville residents in October. Maybe you can get a Grant for pick-up?

The view is right on , on this one. So by going straight to planning commission they are default giving the right of way to provide funding? Of course Chardon and Hawkin are all in for HOLA in PVILLE. It augments their programs and keeps the people from saying hola in those respective areas. What do you think? Some how just need to rail on the rubber stamp 7 and hold them accountable to the decision and the funds that will be dispersed for this 'grant'.
A $600,000 change order for a $9000,000 original contract price? Painesville residents deserve an outside opinion and a public explanation on this one. Another example of the city's managerial abilities is the water pipe replacement on Belmont in 2014. Several years ago the city decided it would be better to replace the water pipe before repaving the street instead waiting until later. Then in 2014 the city contracted with engineers to draw up the plans to replace the entire pipe on Belmont before it was paved. It wasn't until after a resident read about it in the paper and called the city and asked why because she knew the pipe was replaced around 2002. The only old pipe remaining was a short piece at the east end. The responsible people at city hall never bothered to do the "due diligence" to see how old the pipe in the ground actually was. Fortunately, and with thanks to a concerned resident, the blunder was discovered before the construction contract began and, as usual, swept under the rug to avoid any appearance of incompetence.
According to a previous post, this has been decided by 3 member's of Planning you claiming 2 were absent?
The power of 3 interesting.
Lot of children at the planning commission meeting? Well that's a strategy employed by Ms. Dalberg and HOLA. jam up the meeting room with bodies. They are told to come early. You can be assures the people HOLA wanted were in those seats by 7:00. When people were removed was there any consideration if they were involved or even Painesville residents? No all this served as a ploy and I guess it must have succeeded? I am sure the fire department counted a 3 year old the same as an adult. Next time ask to keep the kid's at home. Sometimes I think Term is the only one who knows how VD thinks. He might not have realized what happened Thursday night either?
Too bad planning commission wasn't as smart as council. Remember when Ms Dinallo tried to get some resolution passed and the council meeting was packed? Hispanics on the right, everyone else on the left? This was voted down even with the strong show of Mexicans. Little children dressed up? That was a show for some to "feel" for these poor children who need to keep their culture. Sorry, I for one am not buying it.
Term,
I know spelling is not your strong point but the name of the school is Hawken School. There is no "s" at the end of it.
Can we find out exactly what is going to go on in this building? And for whom? Is it too late to stop it? Whatever it is, it just sounds too shady to me. For the whole community, my a$$.
Any way you look at this, this is Americans' money, right? This is public money, no? One way or the other, this is from public funds, and a building that belonged to the public, so to speak, right? Do they have the right to give away such a building without public oversight/approval? And what about the neighborhood approving what is going to go on there. I am very confused about what is going to go on there. Does anybody know except Dahlberg? This does not seem kosher to me. Can we stop this? If they are going to start giving such things away as this building, etc., to special interest groups, then I want to be a special interest group. I live here; I want my share. Sell the building, and dole out the money to the residents of Painesville who have paid all the taxes/bills here. Can we get answers on this?
3:53/3:46 Ask your city council, the county commissioners, as well as the land bank.
3:46 Corrected
1:55 well this planning meeting was right and left Hispanic by 7:10 My feeling was any adult Painesville resident should have been seated. But that's not what HOLA wanted.
Interesting headlines in today's lake county gazette about the ymca moving to mentor.....looking like it is moving closer to reality.
VD is a community organizer. Need I say more? Do I?
Gee, I viewed her more as a corrupt entrepreneur who abuses or tax system. You know anybody like that?
Seems our Lake County Central YMCA is going to pull a Lake Hospital. Article is in the Gazette, but I saw nothing in the NH (maybe I missed it) They want to go where the money is and it sure isn't in Painesville. I shudder to think what losing this means to the residents. The faithful residents that show up daily to work out, the residents that PAY their full amount so the poor folks of Painesville can be members. Wonder just how many non-paying persons will travel to Mentor? Again, this smells just like the hospital when they left, looking for a better class of paying clientele.
10:33 I read nothing mentioning CLOSING Central Branch?
Maybe Mentor warrants their own branch?
I agree everything follows the money.
if they did leave I hope they don't :gift: the building to the city for a senior center it probably would be a black hole with repair cost and utility bills
The article did mention the possibility of having just a branch in mentor not painesville or the possibility of keeping both, but realistically they will not keep both. This totally smells of lake east hospital, same thing all over again. City administrators better get on the ball quick or it will be gone. Personally I'm sick of being one of a handful of full paying members there. I take classes where I pay extra in addition to my membership and yet hear e others around me talking about how they don't pay anything. Having said all this, the ymca May have missed their opportunity as mentor is building their own wellness center with pool and workout stuff in the very near vicinity the y wanted to move to.
2:35 - Me Too. Our rates increase every year yet free memberships given to large families. They have hired a person from the schools that speaks Spanish to work the desk. Beware Y employees you will be in the same situation the English only staff is at the schools. It wont take long. Maybe thats the real reason for the move? What happened to the survey that was sent out several years ago? The Y talked of building another building behind the existing Y? This really smells like the hospitals plan to bring in wealthier clients.
