"THE PRICE YOU PAY" bruce springsteen
Oh, the price you pay, Oh the price you pay
Now you can't walk away from the price you pay
As promised, I have sent all seven council members, our acting city manager as well as our law director this email.
Carson Contract
First Doug, let me congratulate you on being named interim city manager.
Would you please send me Mr. Carson's last contract- including the
compensation/severance he received upon his resignation last week. I believe it is the administration's obligation to the citizens of this city to proactively inform them. We should see transparency in this matter.
I believe is his short time as our city manager, he made strides to put Painesville on a better path. I also understand that personalities clash.
Rest assured that I am not asking for any explanation for this decision, only how much the decision will cost us. I for I , don't believe his resignation came without a price.
Please inform me if there is a problem with this request.
Thank-you and good luck
Angelo A. Cimaglio
Hopefully we will receive an answer. Was told an answer is soon to be coming.
So what does the City Charter say?
TENURE
The city manager serves at the will of council. In the event of his removal by council he shall receive three (3) months notice. If he is suspended from duty of subsequence to be given such notice. He shall neither less receive his compensation for three (3) month period.
Don't try to find this in our city charter it was somehow amended in 2013. All that it reads now is that city manager serves at the will of council.
Little matter nothing about a resignation? So can people assume if you resign you don't even get a kiss good-by?
On another matter;
At the July 25,2016 Town Hall a resident complained about her home being robbed three times and was receiving no calls from the administration or the police about some issues about the break-ins. At that time Councilman DeLeone and Councilwoman Shoop along with then assistant city manager Doug Lewis made the statement someone will be in touch tomorrow. Well as of August 2, 2016 nothing. The resident texted me. I said I will do my best to remind people. Called councilman DeLeone Tuesday around Five,. He left me a voicemail claiming it would be taken care of. O.K. as of 4:05 PM this resident has heard nothing? There seems to be a failure to communicate?
First time in my life to witness a presidential candidate go after a Gold Star Mother, Claim he had a "relationship" with a world leader, he has never even spoken to? Believers his opponents are fire marshal's in different cities. This after being rescued from a stuck elevator by the same fire department. Another military mother is booed at a Pence rally. The claim that the NFL sent him a letter about debate dates that the NFL denies. And in the end believes the election in November is "rigged" Somehow I view this all as a gift to Democrat's from God. If they would have put Bush, Rubio, Kasich just about anyone else they would be 25 points ahead in the race! I believe more and more Republican office holder's abandoning this ship.

Yes, I would like to know how much this move will cost the taxpayers. I would also like to know why they gave Anthony Carson a vote of confidence and a contract extension in January then booted him out 6 months later. What's up Painesville?
An yet it is the popular vote who put Trump there and abandoned the traditional candidates. My he more AI see the more the Brexit vote doesn't surprise me.......
'LOCK HER UP!"
Mr Carson GOOD RIDDANCE- Readers if you only knew the truth and the facts. If you had to work or deal with the man you'd have blown up the blog with complaints.
12:26 Well what did the GOOD RIDDANCVE cost us?
I didn't work with the man but I did deal with him.
I have never caught him in a lie. I was always treated with respect and any information I requested he always sent me. A far cry from what I was used too!
I also don't understand the contract extension, new business coming in, streets paved etc. Carson seemed to get the ball rolling after the last administration abandoned street maintenance and seemed to standby and watch businesses exit at an alarming rate. The tax base was decimated during the McMahon administration, also the AMP contract and ties to coal burning plants out of state with no buy out clauses in the contracts and the list goes on and on.
Residents have been left more than scratching our heads and questioning the motives of council. Stop writing checks council! Surely if things were as bad as employees and Dept heads claim, the hand writing should have been on the wall. What triggered this exit plan, was there even a plan in place or was this a knee jerk reaction to complaints from employees and Dept heads to city council.
Again, what did this cost the city coffers? I have to question the timing of the money funded to the DPO and the timing of Carsons resignation/removal. Had the Carson resignation/removal precluded the funding for the DPO I wonder if council would have funded the DPO? This feels like a flimflam on residents again by council. Council needs to be held accountable for mismanagement at the very least and a squandering of funds.
How many more times do we sit by and watch this happen? And who will replace Carson?
Mr Lewis had to be walking a tightrope, and that is not a great way to run any city.
Almost all of the city employees were walking a tight rope while Carson was in charge. Remember a while back someone calling him some dictator name on this blog? He continued his rein of terror now he's gone and yes, no farewell party, no cake and no kiss goodbye. I am sure the businesses that had ugly dealings with him are also glad.
4:06 Why would you be walking a tightrope, if you were preforming your job? Every city employee was an outstanding employee?
Over and over I see the city dropping the ball?
Well let's hope the business that thinking about moving into the CORE building still comes? Rumor's are their getting cold feet over some of this? Maybe he wasn't that big of a fan for DPO?
You can't be surprised? All administration as well as their employee's show little R-E-S-P-E-C-T !
Expect worse now that Carsons gone.
Thanks Katie
Thanks Katie???????
The housing prices in the Ville are a travesty. Result of policy at the federal level for housing. https://www.ilw.com/immigrationdaily/news/2011,0113-crs.pdf
Housing prices drop based on this 'demand' fueled by federal policy as driven the prices down for homes in the Ville.
That is the hypothesis. Need actual data to support this but the theory goes as so.
my question is who in the city has been complicit in this and working to allow this policy to continue?
Question.... why was Painesville not able to absorb the TWP as other communities of the western reserve did many years ago? All areas of the Western Reserve were defined by survey to be 5 miles square. The reason was it took One day approximately to travel this distance. Pre roads? Many of the other western reserve towns absorbed their twp counterparts, take Hudson , OH. This town expanded to incorporate it's twp and now is roughly a 5 square mile city. What happened with the ville of Paine? Take a look at it on a map. It is complicated. Go further .. the 44077 Zip.. this is another source of confusion.. how many 'communities have this same zip code? Painesville, Painesville TWP, Concord, Concord TWP (is Leroy in there too?) This is a contributing factor to the governance of the Village of Paine. What would General Paine say about this , http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=14189339
The point in all this is look around, who is controlling the situation and who is reacting? The IQ of the folks living in this place has dropped about as much as the W2's and property taxes have. City leadership is key in these times and sadly this cut of Carson is just another example of the continued lack of leadership in this town.
6:34 A well thought out comment for which I have no answer to? Why Painesville City and the Township were never incorporated will remain a mystery with I guess some different opinions.
I guess when the school system was split that was the ends?
Was race, incomes or any number of thing that led to this? Mentor didn't seem to have a problem when they combined. It's worked out great for them. We will never know and I guess what the communities involved should go on doing the best they can. 44077 is also shared by Fairport Harbor and Concord Twp.
The residents of Painesville shouldn't have to "ask" for the details of Mr. Carson's buyout. We should be able to go on Ohiocheckbook.com and find that data.

That's a really long PDF. Could you provide an executive summary of its meaning and implications. I'm very interested.
Just as a point of interest. So many homes in the ville are dumped on the market with little or no preparation for sale. They go for a song. My personal experience was a sale of an older home in the ville for an extremely good price after investing a few thousand on prep. I did exactly what my realtor said and was pleasantly surprised to find she knew what she was talking about.
I understand, not everyone has the money, time or patience to do this.
