Well Monday night opens another year for our Painesville City Council.
Just a few items on board but one important one.
We will have an issuance of $2,880,000 in notes (loans) we seem to do this every year. I view it as paying off your MASTERCHARGE account by using your VISA account and switching back and forth every year.
We will honor local residents Tom and Libby Hill as citizens of the year for their dedication to Painesville.
Business of the Year will be OUR PET"S located in Fairport Harbor
Non-profit of the year Lake County Kidney Foundation.
Congratulations to all.
Also a discussion on "Strategic Planning" will be brought up in new business.
So what's with the Sewers?
Well we are going to decide if to raise our Sewer rates how and by how much.
I have included Lake County sewer rates as to give you the opportunity to compare your present rates to our new rate structure.
The main difference is that the county rates are one set amount for residents in a month (Quarter) whereas the city is based on water consumption. Is it just my imagination when the city does it one way everyone else does it another? Like you can't compare apples to oranges.
When the city raised funds for water department infrastructure we used a flat $8.00 across the board increase. Sewer rates we are going back to percentages. Something to ask why.
Now back to apples and oranges.
Lake County sewer rates are invoiced four times a year $73.92 per quarter. $295.68 a year.
which comes to $18.48 a month.
Now Painesville's figure let's say floats (no pun) due to the number of days and the amount of water used during a billing cycle. Some bills represent 28 days of service and some 32 days.
Now the only way I can figure that you can figure out your billing amount is take $.83 times the number of days in your bills cycle. .83X30= 24.90
When you use Painesville's system the water you use to water your lawn, flowers or wash your car contributes to increase in your sanitary sewer bill. What if you fill a pool? It should be mentioned that if you live alone and use very little water your bill could be smaller although I believe there is a minimum amount.
This is not to say we don't need to raise our sanitary sewer rates but to find out if Painesville three utility companies are still the best value for our money.
These are questions that council members should have been asking during the first two readings of this ordinance. Will they just go through the motions and vote yes?
After the latest fiasco with Waste Management contract it's time council does it's job.

Hey, nice article in Sunday News Herald - Ohio sees growing numbers in Bhutanese refugee population. "They are learning the language and navigating cultural differences...and more. Hmmm, our undocumented illegal aliens living in this town should take a lesson. If these and other immigrants before could do this why WON'T the Hispanics? They would rather hide out than become a part of this fantastic country.

You mentioned in your main post that some water/sewer/electric bills come in 28 days, while some come in 32. This is quite true, and the problem I see in that is that there IS a minimum amount billed monthly for water and that is a 4. So I think they can make a lot of money if they wait 32 days, because more people will be up another level, and can be charged more than they would have been at 30 days, for example. If there wasn't a minimum charge, it would all even out, and you would be paying for the water you use only, no matter what month you used it in, but there is a minimum charge, and that changes everything. Also, once your water bill is up, so is your sewage bill, so...
5:39, I don't know if it failed your attention, but we are now a two-language nation - English and Spanish, and we are losing our language more and more daily. We have many Americans now across this nation who have been turned down for jobs, for example, because they cannot also speak Spanish.
Also, as an aside, the president can promise a million times that he will make them learn English, but it hasn't happened yet, and it will not happen. There are too many of them, and their leaders declared years ago that no one in the U.S. could make them change their native tongue, and that they would continue to speak Spanish as much as they wanted. We have lost the battle of keeping this a one-language nation. Nobody even seemed to notice. The only thing we can do now is to get the illegals out, and quit catering to the Spanish speaking public. We don't cater to other languages, and we should not cater to theirs. Once the illegals are out, then hopefully Americans will quit doing business with companies who have two languages on their recordings, for example, and let them know why, so we have some hope of going back to a one-language nation.
What country is it that recently finally stood up and said no more. They are demanding that people in their country follow the example of the country as it has been all the previous years and assimilate. I believe the newcomers were told either assimilate, or get out and go back to your country where they have the customs, etc., that you want to follow. We are who we are, and we are staying that way. Was that Egypt? Bravo, whomever it was.
Don't learn English much, yes, but they probably learned enough to make it in America. I know my ancestors did. ANd they made sure their children did also.

8:33, this is 7:25. I didn't say that the two languages on different companies phones was one and the same thing as Obama promising the illegals will learn English. But it is a direct result of our government, and now Obama, letting all the illegals in and letting them stay. My point was that he is still lying about the fact that this will stay a one-language country when we have already lost it. We are now clearly a two-language country, and it has only just begun. I was in one of our local Painesville drug stores recently (I forget which one), and it had a large section of Spanish greeting cards...many feet of rack space. Seeing how this is America, and America is supposed to be, and always has been, an English-speaking country, I'd say we're in big trouble here.

There are too many of them, and they are bringing their culture on top of their language. It is changing America from the country that it has always been, and the same thing is happening with Muslims in this country, too, and nobody is paying attention. We recently had Muslims protesting outside a Synagogue IN AMERICA. Is it England where the Muslims are protesting Easter and want it stopped? We're losing our language, our culture and the whole flavor of America, and our country. So, yes, it's not about culture for the drug store; it's a sign of a much bigger problem than that. My point is, there goes another brick in the wall. And it has only just begun. This is America, and we are losing it, just like England is losing England, etc. If anyone thinks Hispanics and/or Muslims are going to run this country like traditional Americans have, then think again. If you want to know how it will go down, then go look at the countries they came from. And we are just sitting by and letting it happen. We have God out of the schools now, because people are offended; it's declared prejudice for people to fight the overtaking of our country by illegals, etc. We're so politically correct in this country that we are losing it, and many Americans try to shut up the people who are fighting it,so that it can continue. Didn't the Germans, Hungarians, Italians Slovenians Irish? They all brought their culture here and we are all better for it.

Obama is going to let the millions he wants to legalize now get on certain federal programs like Social Security and Medicare. Most will be on Medicaid immediately, as will their children and so on. TERM 4:19, Christian values? Give me a break. These so called Christians broke laws to sneak into our country and continue to break laws while here. They may be Christian on paper but not in their life actions. And they promote their young daughters to get pregnant so produce another anchor baby and more welfare payments to the family. The government both sides realizes the U.S.A. hasn't produced enough replacement workers ( maybe you should have helped produce more people?) and now we seem to have to import them. 1:09, look again. The United States is under siege from Muslims, although our president is still denying this fact. Just ask the mother of the college kid that was heading home from classes a few weeks ago. He called his mom, said he'd be home for dinner, and then a Muslim shot him in the head and blew his brains out while he sat at a stop light. And guess what, 109, they are not going to care if you are legal or illegal or white or brown. So you'd probably better take that smugness and head back to your own country. I'll bet you will all know how to get back to your home countries very quickly if the Muslims escalate their siege; suddenly you'll all know the exact route home.
All generations before this one knew that we needed seasonal, and sometimes other, workers, and they were allowed to come, make some money and go home.
