"BUS STOP" hollies

Under that umbrella? Those green shelters look like umbrellas.

Laketran announced an improved hub for downtown Painesville for routes 1-4-5,  great it will be opposite the spot where the current bus stop presently is.

The construction including pavement (hope they use the fake red brick, sorta to blend) construction and landscaping  will cost $287,752. 80% funded with federal money, the LOCAL match works out to $57,550.00 Begs the question how local. Painesville local, county local , Laketran local? Was any thought put in to merge the style of Main St. streetscape and the bus hub? Can we see the possible see a rendition of what this will look like, ( not just an overhead drawing) you must have them, you already know the cost.

Look great... but again I ask why no Laketran route to Tri-Point and here's my reason for asking. First name me a hospital in an area that has bus routes but not served by one? I meet a person from Painesville who was at Lake County West Hospital for blood work because they didn't drive and the bus was their only form of transportation. Whatever happened to that promised Urgent Care Center promised for Painesville? Another  pipe dream or just a blatant lie? Another person mention to me they didn't care that much for their doctor I suggested seeing mine a the Physician Pavilion connected to Tri-Point again no transportation they must find a doctor close to a Laketran route. More and more doctors seem to be locating in Concord but still no bus service. Is that a Laketran decision or a Tri-Point one?

Both entities are supposed to serve the communities they are located in but neither seem willing at this time to fulfill that obligation.

Hub all you want but it appears your travels lead you; "No Particular Place to Go"  c.b.

In other city news;

The electric department has cut down the hedges along the street by the cooling towers, either they got tired of trimming them, or they wanted residents to see what wasn't operating at the electric plant besides them?

R.E. Gibbs letter in the News-Herald today ... Where's the street fund money? Good place to start looking is to add up the invoices the former city manager  paid to the law firm of  Buckingham, Doolittle and Burroughs during her tenure.

Have to wonder what fund the city is now using to pay the person or law firm to handle "Human Resources".

Laketran not serving the people of Painesville falls under the same heading as to why the hospital left in the first place. Neither wants to deal with the poor or people with problems. Of course no one would EVER admit to that.

The hospital's official excuse/reason for leaving was to able to attract the best doctors available.

Funny that the Cleveland Clinic, in the heart of the 'hood, has no trouble attacking doctors. Trees and waterfalls do not make for a reason for doctors to work in a particular location. Once you walk in the building, all the pretty scenery goes away.

The hospital also wanted to attract some of the more affluent folks from Geauga County and they were not going to do that with a building in Painesville.

The new hospital is now, what, four years old. Still no bus transportation but they have buses going to Hillcrest all day?? Please explain because I don't get it.

If you go to News Herald website it has a drawing and says in article that project was designed to fold into the mai Street Streetscape project design.

Dial-A-Ride doesn't go to Tri-Point?

Everyone knows bus service brings in the "undesirables." Tri-Point and Concord don't want that.

1:40 'involved in the design conversation' piggyback on those design plans? What does that mean. Along please explain where the $57,550 dollars in local match is coming from.
Hope no two buses traveling in opposite directions attempt to drive down the new streetscape.

Yes, Lake East moved to shake the image problem Painesville has with non-Painesville people.

It's the same reason Painesville township educators changed their name to Riverside.

A note to Tripoint, doctors in the Cleveland Hospitals have told me for years to avoid treatment for serious ailments in Lake County. They say, come to UH or the Clinic.

I marvel at some folks I know, that think that driving through Painesville in broad daylight will subject them to being immediately jumped by marauding gangs of black and Latino youth. If you believe that, you are misinformed.

A note to those marauding gangs: We have a great jail, and the law abiding residents of Painesville will make sure you end up there.

Doesn't Gibbs live in the township? Look, I get it, everyone has an opinion and they're entitled to it. BUT, really what difference does what Painesville do concern other residents. Same for the woman's editorial from Kirtland. Do I really give 2 hoots what the town of Kirtland, Concord or Mentor does? I don't live there, it's their town and their decision. Does your opinion really matter if you don't live in Painesville? Same for those out-of-towners that come to council meetings. You don't live here - go voice your opinions where you live. Hopefully council isn't always influenced by them.

5:37 very interesting and true comment.
5:43 Yes and No look Gibbs probably owns more property in Painesville than most of us, his right to chime in.
Council many times have people from other municipalities coming to council. The immigration letter is a good example.Painesville Township, Kirtland, Mantua? Hey it's a free country, right? Then Painesville's person of the year doesn't even have to live here.
I believe the lady from Kirtland gave a good overall view of the downtown.
I do understand where your coming from.

We were promised an Urgent Care for the City of Painesville . Chase kicked out the Educational facility because they were going to put in this Urgent Care. When they started they found the sewers/water system not very good so that stopped. Then it was to be placed in several other places in Painesville which didn't happen. Instead the money went to Madison because of the higher number of people dying due to the inability to get Madison people to an emergency facility in a timely manner. They also threatened to pull out of using Tri-Point unless this was fixed. My insurance does not cover treatment at a "Quick Care" facility such as in Painesville so I have found the new Cleveland Clinic facility in Mentor an easy place to get to. It is located on Wayside Dr. and I think the bus goes right down 20 and has a stop in front of this facility. I also thought that our leadership signed some agreement with Tri Point medical facility that made it impossible for other medical facilities to come into this area-not totally sure. I am for going global in trying to find a medical team that will service the people of Painesville. It is a crime to treat the residents of Painesville with so little respect. The residents didn't dream up the government offices, the homeless, the mentally ill people that every community in the North Eastern part of Ohio have dumped in Painesville! Those that can go to other medical facilities are going and it's not to TriPt. What happened to Painesville SHOULD have never happened! Did all know that there is an Urgent Care Lake Health Facility out by Giant Eagle? So goes the money for a good facility for the Painesville, Fairport, and Grand River people!I could go on and on with this situation

8:16 What a well thought out comment. Yes the previous administration as well as Lake Health did a number on Painesville. Must be outa site outa mind. Now what's Laketrans reasoning?

Insurance doesn't cover 'quick care'? Interesting

Urgent Care near Giant Eagle thanks for the info.

If you call Laketran dial a ride, you can be picked up and taken to Cleveland Clinic, UH, VA etc. Round trip, cheap or free. When I could barely walk, they helped me to the little buss. God bless those people.
A note to you stuck ups from Concord etc. Many salt of the earth people still live in the city. Your attitude doesn't go unnoticed, believe me. A newer home does not a better person make.

3:46 Is a great expensive service that many need. I'm talking about a dedicated bus route to and from Tri-Point. You maybe a salt of the earth person but please stay north of route 84.

Want to upset someone from Concord? Tell them we all have the same 44077 zip code.

Don't have a dedicated bus route, no time for dial-a-ride? They just call 911.

8:16 I just got my summer "magazine" from Lake Health on the back cover was a list of treatment centers. No mention of anything near Giant Eagle. What gives?
Odd they list a Chardon Campus for walk in care?
