"ARIZONA" mark lindsay

Took off her rainbow shades.

Yes a new immigration law was passed in Arizona Friday. Everyone seems to be up in arms about "profiling."
Whether its was the Governor who signed the bill or the President Of The United States both along with everyone claims the Federal government has failed.
What rights do states take if everyone in the Federal government admits to failure?
If say the Painesville Fire Department fails to respond to fires in my neighborhood does that mean I have no right to grab a garden hose and try to put out a fire at my neighbors, because I didn't have proper training?
Over 70% of the people in Arizona believe this is a good start to end illegal immigration.
I don't believe police will be stopping people and asking them to see papers, but if your involved in an accident or some illegal activity you had better be a citizen. There is no hate involved just people who have been overwhelmed with this illegal migration that for some reason no one has control over. What are your solutions? any ideas how to end all this?
I for one would like to see English as the official language in this country, as a start. I am fed up with walking into Home Depot and seeing everything in two languages.
I do believe this bill will bring everything to a head. I see Democrats bringing a bill forward for Comprehensive Immigration Reform. Just maybe my party has a suicide wish? I feel most Americans have no use for amnesty no matter how its wrapped.
Proponents of amnesty are planning rallies for May 1,2010.

I used to be more tolerant than I am now, but I am beginning to understand why so many people are getting fed up. If this is what it takes to get the problem under control, then I'm all for it.

To would-be immigrants: Don't come here illegally. And if you come here legally, LEARN ENGLISH and assimilate into OUR culture, don't shove your own down our throats. Maybe where you come from it's OK to blast loud music all the time and let your screaming kids run wild till all hours, but we don't go for that behavior here. If you want to act like that, I don't want you in my neighborhood, I don't care what color you are or where you're from.

The Number of Illegal immigrants dropped by 1-million in the last year. That's what happens when their are no jobs.

Your panic about immigration doesn't reflect reality.

If nobody was hiring, nobody would come here.

Repeal NAFTA and enforce the laws about illegal hiring.

Hire an illlegal and you will go to jail!

English as an official language is extremely important. Today our taxes are not only paying for esl classes, but interpreters in the hospitals, courts, police depts. etc.. Yet, we have more jobs every day in a high unemployment era that are requiring a person to be bilingual, even government jobs that are again being funded by our tax dollars. Why is this?

It is a result of illegal immigration. This is why we have immigration laws. Legal immigration allows only so many immigrants from countries all around the world. Too many coming from the same area of the world and they do not assimilate. People have every right to be upset. When a person is unemployed and there are no jobs and they finally see a job opening, but it requires you to be bilingual, they tend to be a "little upset". We are training people that have come to our country illegally to take our jobs with our own tax dollars.

I applaud the state of Arizona. We need to make e-verify mandatory and punish employers and illegal immigrants that falsify their records. We need to give our local law enforcement the ability to question immigration status and we need to stop ALL benefits to illegal immigrants.

I would rather see my tax dollars subsidize American workers in the agricultural jobs than subsidize foreign workers that come in on visas and consequently stay here illegally and enter other job fields such as construction. An American working on a farm must still go home and pay his mortgae/rent and utilities on the same wages that a foreign worker is supplied housing.

These areas must be taken care of to stop illegal immigration. You cannot put out the fire with a hose that contains hundreds of holes.

The people that want our immigration laws enforced (which is the majority of Americans) are not racists. I have spoken with legal Americans of all races that feel this same way. This is only a ploy that is used because supporters of illegal immigration have nothing to stand on to support the breaking of our laws.

I doubt that Washington will ever get it! The illegal immigration problem has been growing for years, both parties have chosen to turn a blind eye to the problem. Did they think it would just go away? The politicians are just concerned about getting re-elected!While we(U.S. citizens) have to deal with the problems caused by illegal aliens. The following was in the Ashtabula Star Beacon two weeks ago:

Ashtabula County Department of Job & Family Services is seeking a bilingual office worker fluent in Spanish to assist customers and correctly translate documents. Must possess good customer service, communication and computer skills, and working knowledge of office equipment and procedures, as well as the ability to multitask and deal with a variety of customers in a fast paced environment. AA in Human Services, Social Services or related field is a plus. Contact Julie Ockman Ashtabula County Department of Job & Family Services 2924 Donahoe Drive Ashtabula, Ohio 44004
This listing brought to you by The Ashtabula Star Beacon

This is a state agency and speaking spanish is a requirement to apply for this job. A state agency!! Shouldn't all business be done in English?? There are over 15 million Americans out of work. Where is the outrage? Why are there not people there picketing? This is the kind of information that people need to know about. It's time Americans come first. Illegal immigration is not a party issue, our government has failed for so many years to enforce our immigration laws, and that is why we are in the situation we are in now! Secure our borders, enforce our immigration laws and deport all illegal aliens. Let's keep Americans working instead of illegal aliens!

I had a conversation with my friend in Michigan tonight. Her daughter used to work in Walmart in Michigan before she moved to Arizona. She could not get a job there because she could not speak Spanish.

I personally have no problem with profiling until this problem is taken care of. Desperate times require desperate measures. What in the world would be happening in Mexico if half of OUR country was in THEIRS?

I'm a Democrat, but for Obama to have spoken out against what they are doing in Arizona is wrong. Arizona is saying that to be in this country illegally is illegal. If the president does not support that, then we'd better get active enough to convince him, whether he likes it or not.

We've got to quit electing hispanics, too. As bad as that sounds, if we want to save our country, we have to quit voting them in office. They are all for amnesty. And soon there will be enough hispanics voting in America to carry whatever vote they want if we do not stop this NOW.

There are many other groups of people who are a real threat to America, too. Muslims are here by the millions illegally, too, I think. I know they have taken over one town in Michigan that I used to boycott when I was a kid because they kept out the blacks. Every other country where their numbers get large enough, they start causing big problems.

What I hope our lawmakers remember is that most of the people demonstrating for amnesty are illegal, and legally have no right to be here at all, let alone demonstrate. They can go home and march on their own d--- governments.

This is America. It is not Mexico or the Middle East or any other country. Hurray to Arizona for fighting for it.

White women and white men do not need to sneak across our border all the time. They are given a wave across the border in pronto time. But please TRY to remember, Hispanics owned this state before Yankees ever thought of moving here. So please be aware that we have a huge Hispanic population that come from those original settlers here and thus, have never needed to walk across the border. But they get harassed just like anyone from Mexico. So just TRY to think how they feel when they are asked for their papers and are harassed just because they are Hispanic and they have no papers. It is racial profiling in it's worst form!

I have checked and to be honest there is nothing in the Arizona Bill that isn't in Federal Law. So just what is the problem? Enforce the Federal law and the problem is solved.
As far a language, show me one document that is used in this country that isn't in English? Bill of Rights, Constitution, everything is in English. Now when business or government ask for someone who is bi-lingual is that a bonafide qualification or is it discriminatory? Should County Commissioners, City Managers, Council people also be bi-lingual to hold their positions?
This crisis would have never happened if BOTH parties hadn't tried to platate Hispanic-Americans as well as American businesses for cheap labor. The problem is in Washington, and I feel we will now be entitled to a "dog & pony show" by the people whos only interests will be self serving.

The illegals and the rest of the hispanics are coming out in full force. I am afraid, however, that most people who are against amnesty are going to stay home. If everyone who is against amnesty actively fought it, the force would be so deafening, that our government would have to follow our laws and get them out. The time is now. This is it, as the song says. If you are against amnesty, make sure you are actively doing something about it. The time to take our country back is right now.

The fact that there are over 20 million illegal hispanics in this country is what makes it necessary to start actively checking citizenship when citizenship is in question. When we get them all out and close the borders, then things can ease up.

As far as white people, or any others that do not belong here but are not as noticeable because they are not hispanic --
1) I didn't tell millions of hispanics to come here illegally, so not my fault.
2) When the government starts to uphold the laws of this land, all illegals will have to go whether they are white, black, brown or whatever.

12:37pm Yes we do yell if immigrants do not speak english, but taxpayers should NOT be expected to pay for english classes whether they are here legally or illegally. Do immigrants pay for me to learn a foreign language? Of course not!

11:55am White men and women are waved across the border in pronto time? Either you are listening to rumors or you are attempting to start them. Mexico has been the number one country in which people are coming legally to the United States for years. Much of this is due to the family-reunification act. Check out this table: http://www.migrationinformation.org/Feature/display.cfm?ID=414

1:09pm Why would you think white people would not be questioned of their immigration status? I am white and if they ask me my immigration status, I will proudly give it to them and thank them for doing their job. One of the major reasons that any racism exists today is because some people use their race as a "crutch" and continually whine. People lose respect for chronic complainers with no basis to complain. AZ SB 1070 is a law to enforce immigration laws period. It has nothing to do with race; it has to do with legal vs. illegal.

Dear Friends and Allies,
As the immigration debate comes to a head across the country, HOLA and the Reform Immigration FOR America campaign will be holding events in Cleveland and Painesville in the coming week to rally support for comprehensive immigration reform.

The dream of immigration reform is at a critical juncture; while state legislatures across the country, including Ohio, propose enacting regressive, reactionary laws similar to SB 1070 in Arizona, nationally the issue has been brought to the forefront. Now is the time for action, and together we must work to galvanize our representatives into having the courage to stand up for what is right and pass Comprehensive Immigration Reform this year.

On Friday April 30th, at 3:30pm, we will commence an overnight vigil for 24-hours outside of Representative LaTourette's office at Victoria Place in downtown Painesville to raise awareness of the urgent need for members of Congress to enact sensible, workable immigration reform.

At 7:00 am on Saturday, May 1st we will begin to gather for an immigration reform rally in Veteran's Park, which will kick off with speakers at 11:00 am.

Then on Monday, May 3rd at 11:30am, we will be holding a press conference and rally in Willard Park at the Free Stamp in downtown Cleveland. With a host of community leaders including Dean Lind of Trinity Cathedral, Stanley Miller of the NAACP, and Petey Talley of the Ohio AFL-CIO.

Please join us for any or all of these events and show your support for a critical issue at a critical time!

SEVERAL RALLY TEAM MEMBERS PLAN ON MEETING UP NEAR THE GAZEBO IN THE PARK AT 4 PM WITH OUR ANTI AMNESTY SIGNS AND FLIERS TO TELL THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORY!! JOIN US AS YOUR TIME PERMITS! THIS IS CRUNCH TIME. . .WE NEED YOU THERE!

WE NEED YOU TO CALL ANYTIME, THROUGHOUT THE DAY FRIDAY APRIL 30 AND FAX OR E MAIL AT NIGHT TO REMIND REP LA TOURETTE THAT MOST OF US WANT NO PART OF ANYTHING THAT SMACKS OF AMNESTY/ "EARNED PATH TO CITIZENSHIP" FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS. OUR POSITION IS:

1. FINISH THE FENCE ALONG THE ENTIRE BORDER
2. PENALIZE EMPLOYERS WITH HEFTY FINES AND JAIL TIME

REAGAN GRANTED AMNESTY IN THE 80'S AND IT SURELY DIDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM.

CNN Article

A quote from the article:

"But Schwartz and some other Americans with Hispanic backgrounds who spoke with CNN say the problem with illegal immigrants isn't just the jobs they take. It's how they're overrunning towns like Phoenix, turning them into "mini-Mexicos" with their trash-filled streets and loud music, according to Schwartz. "

I watched the converage of the Painesville demonstrations on channel 5 news. Shameful. They let the illegals tell their sob stories, and gave the citizens of the United States, who are fighting for their country, barely a second of TV time.

Watched another hispanic kid being put on display about how the big, bad America separated her family. Boo-Hoo-Hoo. Guess what? I didn't tell your mother to come here illegally. How dare they stand there AGAIN and get away with it? I am sickened with this at this point. Nobody is even talking about stopping the "anchor baby" law.

And speaking of the "anchor baby" law -- was driving on the way to True Value Hardware on Wednesday with a friend. There was a hispanic girl that looked to be about 12-13 years old pregnant as can be. Congratulations, her parents probably told her.

This is the time to save our country if we are going to. President Obama is backing off. I think he is going to let it play out and see what happens. Arizona is taking the hit for all of us. If we all stand up and fight now, we can start winning this battle and getting these people out of here. Here in Painesville, lets not leave it to a few brave, tired people to do it alone. Let's join the Rally Team tomorrow, and drown out the illegals' sob stories. And Arizona needs the loud support of ALL Americans now. RIGHT now.

I say to the girl whose mother was deported. Go home to Mexico to be with her, and quit wasting the money of my police department.

A few things come to my mind.

1. They keep quoting the phrase "Give me your tired, poor, huddled masses...... from the Statue of Liberty. Someone told me where does it say " go ahead and sneak in the back door in the middle of the night instead of using the front door like all the immigrants from other countries have to do?

2. If the citizens of this country, who are facing high unemployment, and yet still must pay taxes for free English as a second language classes, then where are the free Spanish as a second language classes for our citizens so they can get these bi-lingual jobs in government? Let's put our people back to work first. How many Hispanic immigrants are lining up to teach these classes?

Just about anything I apply for or need coverage for requires a OFFICIAL STATE ID. Am I being profiled for being an American? I have to carry my ID with me and show proof of who I am if I commit a crime or even suspected of one. Am I the only one who must obey the law just because I have an ID? If you want all the rights of an American Citizen, then you must assume all the responsibilities that go with that.

I was reading about Arizona. They estimate they have somewhere in the neighborhood of 460,000 ILLEGAL immigrants in their state. That means about 1 person in 10 is here ILLEGALLY. Also, the unemployment rate in that state is about 9.8%. Again, that means about 1 person in 10 is unemployed.

Now, anyone who says this doesn't cost us anything is full of it. Stop and think about this. In the past, the Blacks said they were discriminated against. Then came the Hispanics. Same thing. Well, I believe that until we close the borders and stop the employers hiring these ILLEGALS with severe penalties for hiring these people without the proper ID, then it will be the average American Citizen who will be discriminated against. That mean you and me folks.

The laws apply to all of us. Lady Justice is blindfolded for a reason. In other words, she can't lift the blindfold and if she sees a Hispanic, decide the law can just be overlooked. If this was truly about immigration reform, then HOLA and Veronica would be fighting for immigrants from all countries. Russians, Chinese, Israeli and any other country.

The Rally group is against all ILLEGAL immigration and NOT just ILLEGAL Hispanic immigration. Seems to me that it is mostly the media and the Hispanics that bring race into the equation.

To 6:22: Standing around waving signs is one of the proceedures that worked to stop amnesty the last time they were going to legalize all these people and give away our country. This is 9:38, and I completely resent the police money being used on illegals protesting my government. I don't, however, have any problem with the police being used when it is legal citizens protesting. That is part of our constitution.

For the illegals, I say GO HOME AND MARCH ON YOUR OWN GOVERNMENTS AND TAKE DAHLBERG WITH YOU. Notice how she's fighting for them in our country, and is not fighting with them in their own country to fix their own government.

10:22 I have been reassured that illegals can't receive any welfare benefits, this excludes anchor babies. Stop the jobs, make all employers use the governments E-Verify, have ICE agents call on random employers to check if they are all following this procedure. If an employers is found in violation if it be Wal-Mart or Joe's landscaping "Jail time" no fine. Someone might just think the fine will be alright if they get caught.
If the jobs dry up the problem will move on.
Something to think about concerning Arizona, if some illegals get cold feet, say a third of them 150,000 where do you think they will go? Back to Mexico...Or maybe to an unconcerned community where the leadership looks the other way?
Where would you relocate too?

Hadn't thought of the fact that they will all disperse from Arizona into the rest of the country. This is another reason we all need to stand behind Arizona now. I think President Obama has backed off to see if the American citizens will demand that they get out. If we are loud enough now and strong enough, both the Republicans and the Democrats can wring their hands and say they are so sorry, but there is nothing they can do about. The American people are demanding their country back. This is the time.

Wasn't it someone in office in California that was calling for a boycott of Arizona? People need to get on the case of any American politician who is not calling for the illegals to get out now, and especially any person in power who is calling for a boycott of Arizona. Arizona has taken the first big step for us. We have to back them up.

Funny, we had a demonstration in our park over people who want to be treated above the law after they broke our law? What the question to ask is what do they bring to the table?

To Annonymous that stated the people are wasting their time protesting illegal immigration with signs and should be contacting their senators. What makes you think they are not????

To Term: You have been reassured that the illegal alien adults are not receiving benefits, but this is not true. Some may not, but many are! When you have approximately half of the employed illegal immigrants using fraudulent social security numbers for employment, they are also using these same numbers for benefits. And yes they use their anchor babies to grab all sorts of benefits including "Section 8 Housing". Every anchor baby they have, more section 8 money. Yet we have a shortage of section 8 housing and citizens living in the streets.

Even though only anchor babies get welfare there are many other sources that make it easy to live here illegally.

Right in our own back yard, the Salvation Army, supported by our donations and go ask them if they ask for papers to prove legality before they give or feed.

Everyone screaming about employers, enforcing that will only help part way, 1 or 2 with a job can rent a house and 6-10 others without a job can live there. When are the people in this city going to wake up and start holding landlords accountable?

We even have a council that is going to pass a property inspection ordinance that will make it harder for our inspectors to enforce the ordinances that could prevent that.

I also took the time (a whole minute or so) to e-mail my thanks and support to the governor of Arizona.
I recall the last time amnesty in some form came up for a vote and all our state reps in Washington were flooded with e-mails and phone calls. Democracy from the comfort of your couch. And it worked! When it could have gone either way some of Ohio's leaders changed their position (along with other leaders) and nothing stupid was done. Nothing was accomplished but they didn't make the situation worse either. Anyone reading this blog has access to a computer and I strongly urge you to do the same now. I also checked the box that asks for a reply of some kind....I think I deserve at least that much because I pay part of their salaries. 5:31 Take my word for it no two people are going to work to support six to eight able bodied men so they can watch Ophra all day. The problem is the source period. "EMPLOYERS" That is the root cause of it all. Enforce the laws. There are thirty dead miners in West Virginia only because employers have it so easy to skate around the law.
If your waiting for the Painesville administration to act, well I think your foolish. There may be twenty-five illegals in a house and the inspectors will check for cracks in the sidewalks.

I read a newspaper article that in the past 2 years over 100,000 illegals have left Arizona? Ever wonder where some of them went? Drive threw Painesville. What if Painesville got tough, maybe it would be under control. Someone should ask the CM what she spent that gang grant money on?

This is 2:17: Term, you may have misunderstood me about the "hand wringing" comment.

What I think President Obama is doing by backing off is seeing if the American citizens will take over this problem and be loud enough about their demands for no amnesty and to get the illegals out. If we are, then both the Democrats and the Republicans can tell the illegals that there is just nothing they can do about it because the American people are demanding that they uphold our laws. Then no party has to take the hit. I think he is purposefully (for whatever reason) giving us some fighting room. He may be secretly hoping that we will make this decision for him. If every American who was against amnesty stood up and fought now, I think we could do it thanks to Arizona.

Maybe 7:22 but President Obama owes some favors and his feet will be held to the fire. Your right secretly he may hope the American people demand no Amnesty. You can bet the Hispanic Caucus was made some promises over the health care bill and they will insisthe brings it up A.S.A.P. Both partys work this way. The media is on the side of the illegals along with many others, the question is why?

Hey Term...why wouldn't the media be on the side of Hispanics? They are no longer impartial but are beholden to big business. If anyone doubts that...just look at the masthead of any paper...they are all corporately owned. Big business sticks together, what's good for one is good for all. Besides, immigration is good copy. If immigration was solved to the satisfaction of the majority of Americans the media would have to move on to something else.
