Yes, someone please confirm this information. If these are anywhere near the numbers, the graduation rate is declining at Harvey. Might be time to replace our school board and our buildings so we can start with a clean slate.

At this rate, the 50% grading policy becomes the 50% graduation rate?????

According to a source at the school, last week it looked like only 87 kids were graduating. But some English tests came in and kids that weren't expected to pass actually did. So the count of graduating seniors is up to 110 now and should stay at that number. Not great but much better than 87. I think this is a 76% graduating rate. Anyone know what that rate has been in the past? Still think it is time to change the board.

It's not great news but alot better than what I had heard on Monday night. I was really down over this and what the news stories about St. Clair St. School. I knew the principal there and he was retiring at the end of the school year. I'm sure this was not the way he invisioned ending his career. TERM>>

With the graduating rate, and the goings on at the schools it just reinforces why Dr. Hanlon does not send his children here. This man has "ZERO" investment in the Painesville education system, and it shows.

Congratulations 2008 Grads.

From Ohio Department of Education web site.

Harvey's graduation rates.

03-04 78.2%

04-05 80.5%

05-06 83.2%

06-07 not listed

07-08 It doesn't seem to be headed in the right direction. Hope it is better than what people are saying. Graduation is tomorrow, so we will see.

Between all the hooting and howling and the number of people who remained seated during the National Anthem, it wasn't a great ceremony. We can be proud of the graduates and very embarrassed by the parents and guests. Hard to expect much from the kids if this is how the parents behave. Very sad.

I totally agree - even our city teachers don't bring their children here past grade school. We are definetly doing our children a dis-service by not complaining more openly about out school system. It is a PUBLIC school and we are allowing second rate education. Our seniors are graduating with inferior skills to prepare them for college or life in general. Boot the trouble-makers out of school. They don't want to be there anyhow. Stop accomodating Hispanics and get on with properly educating our young adults -- our future. SPEAK UP and let your voices be heard concerning our schools!! We have new schools now --- let's start fresh and hold educators and board members accountable.
