JEDD Meeting

Went to the JEDD presentation at city hall Thursday. What a sweet deal for Painesville and Concord. Everyone is for it, not one hospital employee showed up to complain. Painesville should realize about $200,000 for letting this happen. Does anyone think Concrd will stay "Rural" after the Hospital get started?

What't JEDD?

SOME OF YOU HAVE GOT TO START BUYING THE PAPER. A "JEDD" IS A JOINT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT.
THIS IS WHERE A TOWNSHIP WHO CAN NOT CHARGE INCOME TAX CAN TEAM UP WITH A CITY, CARVE OUT AN AREA AS A JEDD AND CHARGE INCOME TAX IN THAT AREA. PAINESVILLE WILL MAKE ABOUT $200.000 A YEAR AND CONCORD ABOUT $400.000 A YEAR. PAINESVILLE IS NOT OBLIGATED TO DO ANYTHING, AND WILL NEVER HAVE TO ADD ANY MONEY FROM THEIR BUDGET TO THE JEDD.
SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT DEAL FOR THE CITY. I ONLY WONDER HOW EMPLOYEES THAT WORK IN THAT AREA FEEL.
A SPOCKSPERSON FOR LAKE HOSPITAL SYSTEMS SUGGESTED WHAT HE FELT PAINESVILLE SHOULD DO WITH SOME OF THEIR MONEY. NOW HERES A GUY WHO IS GOING TO LET SOMEONE CHARGE HIS EMPLOYEES INCOME TAX THAT THEY WILL PAY, AND THAN WANTS TO TELL PAINESVILLE HOW TO SPEND IT. NOTHING LIKE A LITTLE CONTROL ?
I THINK THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WILL HAVE A LITTLE SAY IN WHERE THE MONEY IS SPENT BEFORE THIS IS APPROVED.I COMMISSIONER DIDNT LIKE THE IDEA OF A CERTAIN EMPLOYEE IN A COMMUNITY GETTING CHARGED AN INCOME TAX AND OTHERS NOT. PLUS I SEE THEM WANTING CONCORD TO TAKE SOME FINANCIAL BURDEN OFF THE COUNTY.

Who in Painesville knew about the dealings with Concord besides the city manager and council president? All three trustees in Concord knew plus the township administrator. Paul, Abbey, Andy Arlene even Hal were you guys in the "LOOP"? Ever hear of the Sunshine Laws? You people better renew your newspapers or you won't find things out?

If my knowledge of city goverment is correct. The city should have passed a resolution to hold a meeting on the JEDD? This would have made it know to all city residents.Along with some councilmen.
My question is if a city resident worked there would he pay 2% city income tax or 1.75% JEDD tax or both?
Do you really believe First Energy is going to let them pick that plum of the Hospital's electric business?

GREAT comment Ms. Nelson Street!!

I hope and pray that First Energy (or the aggegate group) in Concord Twp gives the city of "Paine" a run for their money!! FE's lines are already there. How much will this cost Painesville to run new extended lines? Personally, we do not intend to pay for these lines as we do not intend to pay for any extended line into the 400 acres off of rte 44 nor into the "Ohio Love Canal" on Diamond properties. Another post from us; "Tune into TV for the upcoming new charges for electricity (oh the city of Paine has the lowest rates)."
Lock your checkbook - new is just around the corner.
Stay tuned and please advise everyone you know or are associated with (in P'ville) to watch all of this as close as you would watch your children/grandchildren!!

No one is alone in this brigade against the rampant desires of the out-of-control city manager nor the rubber-stamp representation by council members that continually are elected.

Unfortunately, many in this city do not pay one bit of attention to what is happening until it clamps down on them!!
Thanks Ms!!
