City Council Meeting

Well folks its going to cost you more to flush, 3% or almost 17% depending on whos telling the story. 3% if your selling the idea. 17% if your going to pay for it. No matter what its going to save you money? go figure. If that crew saves me anymore money I'll me broke sooner then I think.
Council President Hada seemed more pissed off then usual, hey folks just vote "YES" and lets go home . 3 Councilmen wanted to table the Ordinance , nothing doing ,vote passed 4 to 3 . seems like not everyone is on the same page. Thank-you Arlene, Andy and Hal for asking and looking out for the residents.
Ordinance relating to Utility Service was tabled. Look this isnt rocket science get valid I.D. such as a real Social Security card valid Drivers Licence and a $350.00 Deposit. Stay off of Fox News telling people "We can hook you up". When the bill reaches $300.00 give people 5 days to pay up or make arrangements or the lights go off. Call the landlord make him or her aware of whats going on. Run the Utility Department like a business, thats what it is. Landlords are resposible for any debt left to the city. We don't share in your profits we want no part of the liabilities, they both belong to you.
New Assistant City Manager Doug Lewis was introduced, welcome Doug. I'm just trying to figure out how the quality of life in town will improve with him here now, oh yea we will start collecting 2% income tax on his $84,000 salary that will bring more money to the city coffers. {Help me God I'm starting to think like them.]
Presentation given on Recreation & Public Lands. nothing on Horvaths Lagoons but we now have a mobile "Block Party" trailer, that can be used in any neighborhood. John Murphy wanted to know if there was a fee? Czar Hada said "No questions this is a presentation to Council." So I guess it must be free. Lees going to meet alot of new faces.

To the Terminator and anyone else who reads this.
Sewer rates have not been increased in 16 years-that's 1992. Where in the heck was a set equip. replacement schedule for those 16 years? If this system is so important, as spouted by J. Hada, why has the city waited until the equip is so bad that it will cost $3 mil? A twenty year loan with INTEREST. Why? A GRAVE LACK of INTELLIGENCE. You don't own/manage a truly basic utility and fix-it with BANDAIDS for 16 years. All of them had 16 years to do it right. They already messed-up on the fire hydrants, now they have little or next-to-none pressure. What's next, the Power Plant?
For all of those who have "plopping their butts in council chairs" longevity; each one of you should hang your head in SHAME! I have never seen such diplorable representation and lack of Council Management over the City Managers office (which includes all mgrs). A big reminder folks, YOU are the City Manager's Superior - the City Manager is not your superior.
We shall be watching how/where this money is being spent!
Don't even come knocking on our checkbook because you have blundered with the fire hydrants and the power plant. Council has failed and they will pay the price for it; because I am sick and tired of our utility systems (which are unregulated) being under the vote of 4 incompetant council members. 4 members that believe every word the manager says: but, never do they think out of the box on their own - never do they propose any legislation about the assets of this city. They just ride along, collect their check, and pretend how much they know and care.
If you really knew and cared, this situation with the "Poopy Plant" would not be happening!!

I am betting the Painesville Power is going down and your rates will be going up. Anybody happen to catch the headlines in the Plain Dealer yesterday? Natural Gas prices are expected to double this winter. Better put cots out at city hall cause this is just the begining.
There is no city leadership! I truly fear for the residents of this city. Wake up and smell the coffee.
Council and City Manager should be replaced! Enough is enough.

If council and city manager had been doing their duty over the last many years we would not need to drive to the grocery store in Painesville Township.
or anything else we might need.

Here comes the demolition proposal (outside funding)for Lake East Hospital. "The demolition is part of Painesville's evolving plan for redevelopment of the downtown area and the 8-plus acres that it stands on" "These 8 acres are vital to the city." Going to use two other entities (LHS and the new Port Authority) to jointly have 3 entities seek "welfare" funds from the State of Ohio to accomplish this destruction.

Purpose of this: "The plan is for mixed use of residential and commercial zoning to integrate that site into the downtown district." "We're really trying to get people into downtown and the commercial development that is there." "One unique scenario opportunity is for housing."
They also want a medical facility in that area.
First and foremost, there is nothing Downtown that excites anyone: including the college students at Lake Erie. Great team-work between the City of P'ville and Lake Erie College. Where is the Cities Survey (one of a million) on what these college students (and their parents) would like to see incorporated into this city? Look at what has been in downtown, and look what is now gone. Look at the sign near Subway - Coming soon! That sign has been there for way too many years. A residential proposal for what type of housing? That housing would still be like being on the top two floors of the hospital-what do you see? Commercial development?? How about retail - and they have suffered and are suffering!!
This reminds me of many many years ago when the streets became one-way in order to accomplish urban renewal. Ha Ha.
The urban renewal that this city needs, is urban "washing" of those that have absolutely no clue on how to revitalize this community!!

All City Council members (with a directive to their City Manager) should confer with the City of Willoughby, Kirtland, Chardon, Stow etc and so many other areas to see what REAL renewal is all about!!
Yes, anonymous your are correct!! There is nothing basic in the city of Painesville. We are forced to go to Painesville Twp, Mentor, and even to Willoughby.
All of these communities deserve our money, as this city has no clue how to attract anything!!

HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THE CITY MANAGER CAN HIRE AN ASSISTANT FOR HER WITHOUT VOTING ON HIM WITH ALL THE MEMBERS OF COUNCIL?NO ONE MET HIM OR SAW A RESUME!IS THIS THE WAY SHE IS RUNNING THE CITY?AND WE ARE PAYING HIM TO DO WHAT?TO BE A PAPER PUSHER?SOMEONE NEEDS TO ASK SOME SERIOUS QUESTIONS ABOUT THE RUNNING OF THIS COUNCIL.

IF YOU DONT LIKE WHAT IS HAPPENING IN YOU CITY, GET OFF YOUR FAT -----AND DO COMETHING ABOUT IT? GO TO A COUNCIL MEETING AND SPEAK YOUR MIND. JUST WISHING YOUR PROBLEMS IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD WOULD REPAIR THEM BY ITSELF IS NOT VERY SMART.YOU NEED TO SPEAK TO YOUR COUNCIL PERSON IN YOUR WARD OR AT THE COUNCIL MEETING. YES, YOU ONLY HAVE 3 MINUTES TO DO IT BUT YOU CAN SAY ALOT IN 3 MINUTES!SO, EVERY FIRST AND THIRD MONDAY OF EVERY MONTH THERE IS A COUNCIL MEETING BE THERE.!!!!!
