"WHERE'D YOU GO" fort minor

Tower 2319 Painesville's 'new' old 1991 Stuphen's Aerial tower fire truck purchased in cooperation with the Concord Fire Department?

Noticed it was missing early in July around the fourth today is September 10, 2014 and still no sign of a fire truck?

At first I just shook my head, but after the fire at the Lake County Health Department it no longer seemed funny. At last Monday's council meeting councilman Flock questioned the chief where was the truck? The sound is very poor in the courtroom but I believe the chief said it was in for a 'valve job'? Now where and who is repairing this truck for the past two months along with before we took delivery three chiefs and maintenance' experts claimed the $20,000 in repairs spent would put the truck in good shape for the next ten years.

Want to read what council was sold on and by whom? Go to the May 6,2013 council minutes. The whole story is there. I give the fire chief credit for attempting to save the city and it's resident's money but a truck out of service for two months in it's first year of ownership doesn't save us anything well something went amiss, another poorly executed contract?

Now will a council member ask for a full explanation on happened  along with the cost of whatever was preformed on the truck? It was a sizeable investment or will it just be forgotten like so many other blunder's around here?

Speaking of explanations in the August meeting councilwoman Katie Jenkins ask the fire chief since the bridge on Shamrock Blvd. is now open what is the fire departments response time to that area? The chief said he would have an answer by the next meeting. In his defense no one brought up the question last Monday maybe this coming Monday?

In other city business tonight's Planning Commission (09/11/14) should be very interesting especially to Heisley Park residents.

A "valve" job??
Really?
That can't be done, locally, in less than two months?
Simply amazing.
BTW, I thought that before we got the truck, all maintenance issues were taken care of by a specialist company on Rt 6 in Montville. Maybe we should not use them again?

The truck is on councils shoulders. They get all the data and they have the final say. You should ask away at the next meeting. Here's hoping they have all your answers. And another question to be asking, how much and who's paying for the pretty Painesville fliers we have all gotten in the mail? Where is all this money coming from? Hopefully you can ask them for me since I will be out of commission and not able to make that meeting.

What flyer? I live in Painesville City and I haven't seen any flyers. Did it come in the mail or was it put on the doors?

10:15 It came through the mail, expensive paper colored pictures Pravda would be proud.

If council is presented all the details, then vote yes, who's fault is that? If they dont have all the details and don't ask the right questions, who's fault is that? Bottom line it all rests on them. That's why we vote and they get paid the big bucks to sit up front.

Oh I forgot, since I was on the bottom line. Who is paying for all the expensive bling going down in this town? Our roads are so bad, surely there will be not enough money for salt. I've seen nice landscaping in front of city hall and seen expensive remodeling inside city hall too. There has been updating to PPD, when Ms. White moves she will have her office remodeled and then more updating to come in city hall for the new people. Where is this money coming from? No money for needed items but we sure got to look "purty". Just what is this CM doing and why is council allowing this to happen. It's time to stop. I heard each department has to host a meeting a month and supply lunch for the entire bunch. Does this come out of their personal pockets or is the city department footing the bill for all attending to eat. Again, who is behind all this frivolous spending? Is all this the brain storm of Carson? Does council pay attention to this? Does council even have a clue? (I don't think so)

11:50 Big Bucks? I have learned over the years that council is only told what the presenter wants them to hear. You rely on people to tell you the truth or if they don't know find out. Council relies on the administration way to much and it shows with their decisions. Then again who knows the details? If this fire truck situation isn't followed through by council asking, well what happened and why it will continue.
AGAIN ITS NOT THEIR MONEY!

Valve Job? Clean your ears, thats not what was said. That's what your bud Flock said. If you didn't hear properly, why didn't you re-ask what was said.

You are wrong, (but you will NEVER admit it) why is it not councils fault to know what they are doing? Did Mr. Flock vote for this truck? What was the total vote? 7 of 7, 6 of 7? What? THAT is their job. They are not clueless that's why there are checks and balances and several persons involved in a process so the blame doesn't have to be one persons fault.

Okay, if that was not what was said, what was said??
If you heard it properly, let us know what YOU heard.

At September 12, 2014 at 12:10 PM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

12:02 That's what I heard, and if the city gave a darn what was being heard they would fix the sound system. But than maybe there's a reason not to. O.K. where's the truck and what's amiss?
12:00 Am I working on a story that will knock your socks off.

Skirted my CM question? I heard he is on his way out. No one likes him, he's nothing but a problem and council has enough votes to send him packing but no backbone to do it. By the time they do get a backbone this town will be driven further into the ground by him. Leads me back, it takes a village to get things done, not the fault of one person. Council, get it done, eleminate him before it's too late. There has to be some clause in his contract and then put the Assistant CM back at the helm. He did a fine job after Rita.

If the city had any money after all this "purty" nonsense they might. But not when money is being flushed away.

12:12 That's why I'm checking.
12:11 I don't see the CM leaving he has a contract.
12:14 The money is all being spent DOWNTOWN!

First you said "I believe the chief said it was in for a 'valve job'?" Now you are saying "12:02 That's what I heard," You really should make up your mind and stop switching stories. Reading both of your quotes you can't get your own story straight, how can anyone believe you?

5:31 that's what I heard, sorry. Now if you know something else fill us in. I am sure a citizen can ask for the invoice of repair work done on the truck, (I will) Now if you want to stand in defense of a piece of equipment gone for over two months be my guest. Council seems to have been sold a bill of goods due to the council minutes. AGAIN

1. How can you say it isn't councils money? It IS their money. All 7 live in this city. It certainly is their money too. Their job to take care of the spending, the employees and the residents.
2. If I recall the truck you keep droning on was a joint purchase, between other communities? Painesville, Township and Concord?
Then according to you, not only did council mess up, the commissioners and trustees did too. Why aren't you going after them too? More than one community bought this yet you only hold this town to the fire? Hope to see you at their meetings too.

Council? Why aren't you griping about the other towns that all went in on this too? Wasn't only council it was the trustee's and or commissioners too. All in All it was a joint purchase and EVERYONE involved in the politics thought it was a good purchase and it passed because of a majority vote. Lets muddy your water - of the 7 council what was the total yes/no vote? Of the other towns involved - what was their total yes/no vote. You should be ashamed for making one person to blame when there were a dozen or more. And don't say you only care what goes on in Painesville, readers know you make trouble at other meetings also.

At September 14, 2014 at 1:42 PM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

11:48 Not ashamed but very frustrated. Do you and 11:36 believe the experts did their jobs? To me the only thing the experts knew was that the truck was red? Read the May 6,2013 minutes. Again council was sold a bill of goods by who? I wasn't impressed it's an old vehicle and I had just heard how hard it was to get replacement parts for the year newer fire truck so the solution is buy an older one? Painesville Township or any commissioners were not involved in this transaction. I live in Painesville as your mother used to tell you "If Johnny jumps in the lake do you?". My only concern is not blame it's what good is a piece of equipment we have owned for less then a year that's out of service for over two months? Something tells me Boardman TWP. knew something we didn't Make all the excuses you want but something went wrong. Can't wait to see the repair invoice. Asking for logic is now called making trouble. That's why Painesville is presently where it's at, you think?

I was at the meeting where the purchase of the truck was approved. I NEVER thought this was a good idea but I am not in the position of the Council members as far as asking questions. They didn't ask and it appears that we, as tax payers, got burned again.
Term did raise issues at Council meetings and was ignored. A complete shock, I tell you!
As far as I can tell, the only reason this truck was better than what we had was that it is taller. Apparently it is out of service more than what we had so than was no gain.
BTW, does anyone know if the old truck was sold? That was the plan.
Like Term, I am not concerned with what Concord does.
Besides that, Painesville Twp was never part of this purchase.

OK so not the township just Concord. Who twisted Concord administration's arm to buy this truck? Obviously the politicians from both towns thought it was alright to go through with, they did and as with any used vehicle you can have a problem and there was now get over it, move on. Same for Atwell's, they meet the criteria for their business - get over it too. You don't like anything in this town you so should leave.

That is the issue, the truck is NOT fixed and is out of service. How much more clear can it be?
If you bought a used car and had these problems, you would likely be calling the TV stations looking for them to help. What is the difference?
The problem here is that tax payer money was spent on an OLD truck that is out of service more than it is in service.
That is good with you?
If so, you must be on the City payroll.
Furthermore, like I stated before, I don't care what Concord does, that is not my business. I do care how my Painesville tax dollars are spent.

At September 15, 2014 at 4:26 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

3:06 It was a joint purchase between other towns. Therefore all involved did their best. The presenters, the politicians and the peanut gallery of opinions. If only one community made a mistake I'd understand but two communities buying into one venture. Both could not be wrong in this purchase.
1:42 "The only thing the experts knew was the truck is red"? What a slap in the face of all council and Concord that approved this. Very low. Maybe if you were on council you could be asking all the right questions.

Well, now I know that the "valves" meant the hydraulic supports for the ladder. I am still at a loss as to how three sets of them could go "bad" at once or why this wasn't discovered last year when the truck was purchased?
Additionally we hear the chief say that we have to expect things like this. Maybe not if we didn't buy a 23 year old truck.

I have a semi-automatic, can I come too. I have to tell Mr. Terminator that what he says about Atwells is not true. He continues to state the noise from the range is continuous and goes on for hours. Well, not true. Been by it 3 times and heard nothing. 2 drive by, along Chestnut and down Cedarbrook. Then spent time at the Convenient and again heard nothing. All 3 during early evening 3 different nights.

2:48 If you think you need that semi-automatic bring it. I guess it makes you feel safe? Your almost as bad as the city at judging a nuisance. Maybe I just explained it wrong. First the noise isn't continual. It may start at 9:00am go for an hour and nothing say til noon. Then it may start again you are correct there is no schedule to the gunfire. I am sure I've got a legitimate complaint.
