If you should drive through "Downtown Painesville" you will see a lot of what I call crime scene yellow tape all along Main St. Now unless there was a major crime shooting spree downtown what could be the reason for all that yellow tape?
Well it is very dangerous and unsafe to shop or do business on the Main St. strip with all the construction going on? A total of six construction workers working on the project Thursday.
Unfortunately it has been explained to me the a woman traversing the south side of Main Street fell head first into one of the construction site and had to be transported to Tri-Point.
I hope and pray this individual is recovering and will soon be 'Shopping Downtown Painesville'......again!
Look if it's unsafe to walk along Main St. just maybe the street should be closed? Presently they have the front of the election board front door blockaded.
I only hope this accident won't be blamed on a clumsy resident? The real culprit are the city as well as the construction company.
Interesting what makes people tick in Painesville, surcharges on water bills, strange and expensive electric contracts, streets that remind people of the 1800's. No.......... one reader 'enough is enough' gripe is the changing the day kids can make dentists rich! Halloween by our city manager? Even questioning if he was God?
It's Halloween not a religious or national holiday. This is what causes someone to go ballistic? I believe this was do to a safety concern. As far as Christmas Eve I believe a personal day or floating day was used. no new paid days off.

Not one resident with a grip-it's gripe you putz. Get a grip got a gripe. Look at the complaints over this being changed, not only one person there are about 80 of us. Why do you condemn this person when you are the only one with a GRIP or GRIPE with Atwells? I have not seen one name other than yours doing all the complaining. The cheese stands alone.
How about a new city Tax for people! with more more then 6 people living in the same household! And more then 3 cars.
These folks are using the streets and sewers and ganging up in 2 to 3 bedroom houses property look bad bringing down our values down. They put all there food cards together and live like kings most are overweight and taking advantage of all the free stuff they can! some houses have 3 to 4 generations and there boyfriends living in the same house? Is it the economy? the kids don't leave they bring home the boyfriends?

2:45 First thanks for the correction. Now the 'Putz' point was that the city manager is not a god. nor is there a national holiday for trick or treating. He didn't cancel the Holiday really? He moved it with the rest of the neighboring communities. Now I have heard one neighborhood in Painesville is going to have trick or treat both nights? Hope they have plenty of candy. What stirs me up is that changing a date when kids get candy is more important than going to a school board meeting? Atwells? patience is a virtue. It ain't over.

I too will no longer pass out candy. Kids are bussed in to neighborhoods by their parents from other neighborhoods in the city. There are lines up and down the streets. These kids are so lazy they have to have a ride every few houses. I never minded Halloween until this continued for years, every year. Overheard by a kid "we come here bcause they rich here". I am not rich and just saved even more by not contributing to this. Yes, it may not be a major "Holiday" still there is no logical reason to mess with a good thing. How long has there been Friday football? And now, just this year it is an issue? Not buying it either. Did you read all the posts against it? Conference on Thursday the new Halloween, so those kids get slighted too? Because of a high school football game? Still, I'm in the majority and you are the minority.
I am a block from Atwells, and me and my family GRIPE every morning, noon, and night about the outrageous amount of noise coming from that business! I regret ever moving here! Now, I see my electric bill may become unaffordable! I'm thankful for Term's blog, because my Councilman sure isn't talking, or listening! I have lived in several municipalities and I have NEVER seen such a "good 'ol boy any girl" operation! Term grew up here and loves his town.Me? I didn't, and don't love it, as Atwell's will never allow me to even like living here!
I hope the quest to quiet Atwell's ain't over! No I pray it ain't over!

You are are correct! Except I apparently moved here while Atwell's was actively annoying the neighbors, incredibly, the shooting didn't occur when we looked at our home! Now, I figure, if we try to sell, and any potential buyer hears all that noise, we will lose thousands trying to get away! That just shouldn't happen!

What you can not seem to get through your fat heads is Atwells is doing everything right. They are not violating anything. Not the noise, the hours of operation, nothing. They are completely kosher. I have been past their business numerous times a day and can't understand what you are hearing. It's a normal noise from an appropriate business. Nothing else. I suggest you should have done your homework prior to buying a home and to the others, I suggest you move. But not to Mentor, Madison, Eastlake as they all have ranges there too.
Sell it when it's quiet. Just like it was when you bought yours. Buyer Beware and you weren't.

Plus I've been to two of the gun ranges mentioned and guess what no noise to the outside. How and why do they do it and Atwell's can't?

Because they are NEW that's why. A person of your status should already know that. New buildings follow New codes. Previous buildings that are already up to code and following procedure don't have to do anything either. You continue to beat this dead issue.

Atwell's is illegally disturbing the peace of all the neighbors within two or three blocks(or more) of it's business! The city is obviously shielding Atwell's from the law! Atwell's is a nuisance! I will gladly join a class action suit against them and win! The decibel levels far exceed 60 (max per code), At their property line! Painesville needs to be named in a suit as well for refusing to enforce the law. Sell when it's quiet? Well, if you would coordinate that for me that might work. I live in the north end. My parents bought a home on Cedarbrook in 1957. I have lived there growing up. My step-mother still resides in the home and I spend a lot of time there since being hospitalized.
Sweet quietness today! What gives with Atwell's? I wish it could be like this a lot more often! I forgot what most Painesville residents take for granted, reasonable noise levels!

Going to the house "every day you can" doesn't make you a resident there, neither does the location on your license. If you vote with that address it could be fraud. You could be voting for the wrong ward Council person and paying too little on property taxes if the home isn't owner occupied.
