"JUNIOR'S FARM" paul mccartney

Seems just maybe the first casualty of the Main St. improvement may just be the Thursday Farmer's Market.

Appears with the construction the market will be moved to Veterans Park. Seems like a reasonable idea until you hear the conditions. No Vehicles on the Park, no tents just tables.
So I am to believe vendors who want to do business in Painesville will have to leave their vehicles and walk there merchandise some fifty feet or more to do business in the city?
This is the problem the city has people in charge without any business sense.
After the first thought, let's make money. Comes the ease of doing business. How many of these vendors work out of the back of their trucks or vans.
No consideration to the parking lots near Budda Bings? a more attractive part of the city?
This is all you got?

Now how did this come to my attention?
Maybe something is in the works to move this all out to the open spaces of the Painesville Commons Shopping Center. More room, more traffic along with alot less headaches.

Let's see if the administration can screw this Farmers Market up for the people of Painesville?

Better stil the old Stop and Shop on Bacon Rd.
You have to wonder if the city feels there doing these people a favor. After all the work on Main St.Something tells me they won't be wanted back at there old spot. Not chic enough?

In Galion, city officials tried to stop the farmers market with regulations. We slapped them upside the head with what the state told them " FARMERS MARKETS ARE TO BE LEFT ALONE "

Local grocer did not like the competition . too bad.. bribes and pay offs did not work .. now the city officials will be fired come June 01. Payback .. it's a beautiful thing.

We don't have a grocery store in Painesville, so ythats not the problem.

The city made accommodations for these vendors? Yes. Are they good enough for you? Nooo. So I gotta ask, why aren't the vendors complaining instead of you. You have a complaint about everything whether it is your business, concerns you or not. Why not let the vendors express their opinion instead of you being their voice?MAYBE they are happy they have a place and Maybe your involvement will take away the market all-together. Silence is Golden.

5:38 I guess you believe I was sitting at home and decided somehow this isn't good enough?
Or, maybe one of them let me know the accommodations weren't satisfactory for the group?
Myself I will go where they are either downtown, shopping center where ever they land.
The setting isn't as important as you might think. The product is.
Now the city that runs three businesses as a monopoly assumes that whatever provision and accommodations they make should be fine with the vendors. If that's true why are the meeting with the city to see if they can iron out their difference Wednesday?
MAYBE they are not as happy as you believe?
Silence is Golden. or the Rule of the City.

What do you mean a more attractive setting in the city? Veterans Park isn't attractive enough for you.

At March 18, 2013 at 7:20 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I am sick of the silence is golden rule! Bring it to the table and discuss it. Once things are out in the light, more solutions might be available. What has been irritating, coming to the table with ideas and shut down. Residents went to meeting after meeting on the Streetscapes, for what?

I think there were priests in the catholic church who said those same words to small children........

At March 18, 2013 at 7:58 AM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

6:48 Attractive wasn't the word I should have used. Conducive was the word I was looking for. Ask asyone who has ever been a vendor after making money the ease in the setup and teardown comes next. Draging tables and merchandise from your vehicle and back is not the fun part of the job.
7:20 Streetscape The deal was the part for stakeholders was all bull. The city knew what they were going to do before City Architecture put on that dog and pony show.
Look many of those people attending those meeting must have realized at some point that Disneyland was not going to be built.
What about State St. Washington St. St.Clair St. Liberty St. do we get Grants for them too? When?
Maybe the solution is everyone in Painesville give up their homes and move Downtown. That's where all the money's going.
I believe Painesville people are smarter than city hall believes.

6:40 Are you implying that since Term is on the side of the vendors the city will cancel the market out of callusness to Term?

The Farmers Market was held in Veterans Park at least one week last summer when the Taste of Painesville was on Main Street. I seem to recall it was just as busy and attended as usual.

In regards to the parking lot on State Street, I believe that lot is to be busier this summer as the Main Street businesses have been instructed to make the back doors in the alley easily accessible since most of the Main Street business customers will be coming into their establishments vis that parking lot and alley.

For all I or anyone else knows you are just sitting at home hatching ways to create mayhem for everyone. Again, if the vendors have a problem why don't and aren't they speaking out? Why are you? Do you set up a booth every Thursday with them? Do you represent them? Don't they have a mouth of their own? This is your typical motive - stir the stuff and get involved in most things that never even concern you.You just can't MYOB.

At March 18, 2013 at 2:27 PM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

This is what you call mayhem?
MYOB It is my business if the city chases the farmers market out of town. It's my business.
I guess when April comes and there isn't a Farmers Market I will read where they moved to outside the city.

Maybe it isn't Term's "business" but for those who criticize him, remember that his purpose is to inform. Without this blog, I would not have known that there was an issue until it was a done deal.
Do you think someone in the City administration was going to tell you?
Leave the personalities out of it and learn about what is going on around us. Don't shoot the messenger because you don't like him or the message.

To the farmers out there. Rider's Inn will let you use there rear parking lot any Thursday.

Also as I drove around town I found some city land at Washington and State to the east of Mexicana. Seem the city has erected a no treaspassing sign and put posts around the area. Now it seems someone has removed a post or two and it presently is a parking lot for someone?
Seem the city went through all the trouble to put barracades in you would believe tthey wouldn't want people trespassing?
Where oh where is that famed Downtown Painesville Group?
It's in WardII Katie go and check, please.

So now Mr. Mayhem is going after the Mexican grocery store. as someone else mentioned MYOB!

At March 20, 2013 at 4:51 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Well, Term, if someone is warning you off, then there must be something worth checking out there.

At March 21, 2013 at 5:57 AM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

First off I don't believe the Mexican store is benefitting from this parking issue.
I was looking for different venues for the farmers market. Mybe the rear parking area of the Human Services area, The old Telegraph area.
Look no vendor is going to setup and carry goods back and forth.
I hope the meeting they had at city hall resolved some of their issues.

At March 21, 2013 at 6:26 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

YOU were LOOKING for venues? Again, what business do you have doing so? You are a resident, nothing more. The vendors working along with the city should be the ones making these choices not you. You are not in charge of anything but your own blog site.

Why the venom?
What difference does it make to you if someone else looks for possible sites?
Chill out!

6:26 Sorry, NO this is my Blog. and I guess it's up to ME to tell you if there might be a reasonable solution.
Most people tell me all you do is complain!
Then when I go out and look for solutions I am told I am a resident and to mind my own business?
I guess as I look around Painesville it could use alittle more input?
Maybe more people should be asking some questions to the "movers & shakers" Boy, I still love that comment!
Again sorry if your not satisfied with my answer. The solution might be for you to just stay on the city sites where everything in town is great with answers you will be happy to hear.

6:26, join us at the other Painesville blog site. You might find it a little more rewarding. And it doesn't appear to have any (at least vocal) city management people on it. There doesn't seem to be any propaganda popping up. But some good ideas tossed around.

At March 22, 2013 at 8:29 AM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

Why you would tell someone to go to a site and not tell you how to locate it is beyond me.

The farmers market met with the city Wednesday they voted to move to Veterans Park. How many of the vendors that will be missed from last year that refused to make the move is unknown. I believe they will probably be in Mentor. Not all vendors will make the move to Veterans Park.

At March 23, 2013 at 6:59 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

The vendors VOTED to move and they did it without your interventions. Well doubting Thomas, majority ruled and you are still an unhappy non-believer.

At March 23, 2013 at 9:04 AM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

6:59 Yes they voted I just wonder how many will decide to go elsewhere. I hope none do but if they do I wouldn't blame them.
Non-believer in what?

I see today Saturday cars are still being parked illegally on city property.
Seems as if no one at city hall reads your blog. To bad.

At March 23, 2013 at 11:19 AM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

10:45 I have emailed both the city manager as well as the council person for Ward II. Both are aware of the situation and both have sent emails back to me.
Why someone is allowed to abuse city property is strange. This is not their property and maybe sending a letter may not be the proper course?
Maybe towing and impounding these vehicles might make more of an impression?
You have to wonder if they don't care about Painesville property what makes anyone believe they would care about yours?

TERM, did it occur to you that the other blog doesn't want your group to use their site to spew your views. You have total control of this one and this is definitely a liberal website. If I can find where this other site is, I will join it and maybe I will have found a home. There's a meeting Thursday in Painesville and the majority of attendees are conservatives. I'm hoping someone has an in with that site. CPR

At March 25, 2013 at 5:30 AM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

5:36 Yes it has. What I wonder is a blog. that no one knows how to get to unless you know a conservative that might know how to locate it. Along with the idea that everyone must believe the same way?
I see success written all over this.
Now am I to believe its not known so as no one can oppose there views?
Pale, Frail & Stale. The autopsy is being written. (that might get them started)
Please enjoy your new spot.

Well Term the city must be running a study on how to handle this parking defiance on State St. 4 30pm and still trucks parked on the property.
OR maybe fear of Hispanics?

The PPD cant be bothered with illegal parking. Do any of them even live in the city? No one cares, unless it concerns them. Employees need to live here to see what it's like then maybe they would be town-proud.
