"SLOW TRAIN" bob dylan

Sometimes I feel so low-down and disgusted
Can't help but wonder what's happening to my companions

I don't know who dropped the ball but someone did.

RT. 20 Euclid Ave. Mentor Ave. Erie St. North Ridge RD. the main east west road in Lake County. That's not an Interstate highway, Rt. 2 ends in Painesville Twp. This road at the Painesville/ Painesville Twp. line has been blocked for over a week. Now who do we contact? Painesville City council? They control W. Jackson out to the township to the west as well as Fern Dr.  Painesville Twp. Where are their trustee's on this? County Commissioner's?

Look railroads in the 1800's could lay ten miles of track in one day but just what  now a hundred feet of track takes more than a week? No one working at night or the weekend? I guess they all head home to Conneaut and Bellevue? They provide no traffic police to make this workable and all of the leadership turns a blind eye?

Railroads can clear a 40 car derailment in 24 hours but for some reason they can't  make crossing repairs in a week?
Brag all you want about local leadership but it seems to have failed in this situation. Why? No one will ask, just put up with another inconvenience

The railroad should have kept one lane open in both directions or provided the money for  police to direct traffic. I won't even get into the safety issue.

Painesville might have been involved if it included a sidewalk?

More good news Jackson St. bridge over RT.44 is to close Monday?

Home sales in PCLS district

940 N. St. Clair St.                     $34,000
772 W. Jackson                          $32,500
40 Chestnut St.                           $28,000
855 Homewood Dr.                    $150,606  ( seems like that neighborhood is holding it's own.)
could have used a tat too parlor?

Seems the  Trunpster has no idea who is Clinton's Vice- President choice is? Seems he remembers him as the former governor of New Jersey when he owned the New Jersey Generals? No Donny your insult was on the wrong guy? You somehow confused the former Governor of New Jersey Thomas Kean. (1982-1990) who died in 1996.  No Clintons running mate is Tim Kaine Governor  was Governor of Virginia (2006-2010) Trump can't even get his insults right?

PAINESVILLE

City manager resigns after 3 years

"Because of the support of Council and outstanding professionalism of the city staff, there were many successes over the last three years. It was my honor to work alongside this talented group of men and women"  Anthony Carson

Now if you believe that I have a parking garage to sell you!

It should have read;

"Because of the failed leadership shown by council in my tenure as city manager along with the constant meddling by some on council in things they have no business in. This plus the lack of professionalism due  in  part of the staff I inherited. This city has somehow made some strives in spite of the foolishness. It has been a constant headache to work along side these constant whiner's and complainer's"

First things first.
Word resign

Well it's a verb
voluntarily leave a job or other position
I guess he resigned to shorten his career?

resign- leave, quit, renounce, relinquish, abandon. That's what it reads.

Now the question will be how much did this "Resignation" cost the people of Painesville?

When you resign what are you entitled too?

Because of the resignation we will never truly find out why the vote against Mr. Carson that took place Last week!  But I will do everything to find out what this cost us. Odd this article never mentioned why? or even what his leaving will cost us. Oh, they can claim confidentiality but the dollar amount  is public business. I expect a lot of pushback over this and the question to ask is to make sure EVERYTHING is included even the adenments to his contract.

Well the last CM resigned or retired Whatever!  What did she leave with? Let's compare.

Yes there is glee under the Golden Dome we can go back to our inefficiencies without fear of any reprimand.

This council has proven over and over that they are very capable of wasting needed city funds.

Presently Doug Lewis looks like the smartest guy at city hall?

Is there a resignation coming from someone on council in the near future?

Well the conventions are history and both the Land and Philly can be proud.
It seemed the content of the GOP convention was fear?
The Dem's looked like the GOP.
Trump's speech stood out as an explanation of his view of the United States.
The speech of the conventions?
If you were watching FOXNEWS you missed it they didn't carry it.
Khizr Khan Muslim  father of a Muslim-American war hero killed in Iraq in 2004. Who asked Trump if he had ever read the United States Constitution?
Look at the words 'liberty 'and equal protection of law'
"Have you ever been to Arlington Cemetery?" his father asked, "Go look at the graves of the brave patriots who died defending America- you will see all faiths, genders, and ethnicities.

"You have sacrificed nothing. And no one."

Odd, haven't seen a tweet on this?

( I KNOW) I'M LOSING YOU rare earth

THE EXECUTIVE SESSION TODAY FRIDAY  07/29/16  HAS BEEN AMENDEDED

RESOLUTION NAMING DOUGLAS L. LEWIS AS INTERIM CITY MANAGER FOR THE CITY OF PAINESVILLE. AS CITY COUNCIL SEARCHES FOR A REPLACEMENT.

RESOLUTION TO COMPENSATE DOUGLAS L. LEWIS FOR INTERIM ACTING CITY MANAGER

OUR BEST TO MR. LEWIS

Your love is fadin', I feel it fade
Ah, your love is fadin' I feel it fade

Well an Executive Meeting will be held Friday to seal the fate of our City Manager Tony Carson.
The car's been turned in, the desk emptied. and he is presently on 'vacation.'

Now how much will it cost the city to have him resign? Well, he's never been fired before? Remember when he is fired council CANNOT vote in Executive Session. That vote will have to be made public. The reason for the vote won't be. But I believe the vote should be made public.
It's time for the grown-ups on council, who am I kidding?

If you would ask every council person today the vote would be 7-0 not me! Well it seems this council has an obligation to show the vote as well as reasons?

Now if Mr. Carson resigns no vote or reason has to be shown. But if he does resign that will cost the City of Painesville extra money for that to happen.

I thought Mr. Carson had fulfilled his job as city manager and resident's need to know what council has witnessed that the rest of us haven't? Reprimands of employee's and or Department heads fine let's drag that out into the open expose the wounds!

Let's talk about a foreman fired for patching incident's that took place at the Power Plant? Let's talk about a $10,000 hole dug by a contractor, that we paid for? Has a secretary been let do recently, a building inspector over the parking garage? Let it all hangout. From department heads being reprimanded and calling council over their treatment by Mr. Carson let's hear it all!

How many stupid project's did our city manager inherit by the past administration?

Happy employee's? What a crock the only person that can make you happy at your job is simply yourself. I missed that day I guess. I always thought if I took a job I agreed to do the job. Never had anyone claim it was there to make me happy?

The Painesville workforce had become fat and lazy with the last administration and some employees also being rude. Many forgot who was paying them. Plus the culture of the former CM still  rambles around here.

No this council loves to pretend the Titanic isn't sinking as well with no clue how to save it. (If it can even be saved)  Rumors abound that they already have started with the interview process.

In finishing our last CM couldn't make a pimple on the A## of  our present  CM! You voted for these people you live and pay  with their results.

Should make for an interesting weekend!

Donald Trump jokes maybe the Ruskie's can find  Hillary Clinton's emails? Careful what you wish for Donald they may find your tax returns for the past 20 years?
Putin is like a cat playing with a mouse. The mouse is Trump. Eventually the game will end!

"R-E-S-P-E-C-T " aretha franklin

I'm about to give you all my money
And all I'm askin' in return, honey
Is to give me my proper's

Attended a well attended Town Hall Meeting last night at City Hall.
We learned the in's and out's of cold patch and Asphalt patch why they were used and when they couldn't be.

Fire Chief Mlachak gave a presentation of the mass notification system used by Painesville City. This is something al residents should be signed up for.
Along with emergency situations you can get Council news,  Utility news, Recreation news, Cemetery news. Construction & Road closure. Even non-resident's can sign up. Say you have a parent living in Painesville and you make your home in Mentor you can be made aware of what's happening in Painesville! Thanks Chief.

Now the RESPECT issue.

At the last Town Hall I listened as a resident complained about a garage built next to him. Curiosity made me drive by this garage. Well to be honest as a kid we built more stable tree houses. This garage might withstand a 15 mph wind at best. Teaching me some complaint's are very valid.
Now last night another neighbor complained about noise and rowdiness from a business next to his property. I am not being judgmental but does a nearby neighbor have the right to complain about noise from a business?  Are there one set of rules for residents and another for businesses?  To the point police have an obligation no matter what the circumstances to treat all resident's with respect. PITA maybe but you are still there to protect their rights as well as doing everything you can from this situation escalating.

A Painesville resident has been robbed three times. With a loss of  thousands of dollars. Police say it is still an 'open' case. Also some of her costume jewelry has been seized  returned just not enough evidence to file charges. Well the police asked her for photographs of her wearing the items. Now it's claimed the pictures are even lost. This resident claims the Police Chief won't even return her calls? This doesn't appear the way a city should conduct themselves.

Also brought up was the number of construction jobs around town that start Friday afternoon and are ended by Monday morning. That's motivation is to avoid permits?

Seems many feel the local government isn't proactive for residents. Both issues mentioned will be with a sit down with administrator's and resident's.

Thanks again to Councilman DeLoene and Councilwoman Shoop.

And in closing I asked if there was anything they would like to share with us? No, but the parking garage project started today? Shhh! secret!

Witnessed another cluster F#@K Railroad shuts down Mentor Ave. at tracks diverting traffic onto W. Jackson St. No PPD, no LCS no one directing traffic. Is this no man's land? Railroads can be made to pay for traffic officers . Someone tell somebody!

HOME SALES PCLS DISTRICT

East Erie                       $460,000  (Rockwood Manor)
543 Williams St.           $80,000
943 North Ave.             $25,000
641 W. Jackson St.      $22,244
567 Storrs St.               $80,000
568 N. St. Clair St.       $59,500

Roger Ailes resigned from FOXNEWS? It appears Gretchen and Megyn did exactly what the asked them to do?

PAINESVILLE JULY 24, 2016

BULLETIN:

IT HAS COME FROM VERY RELIABLE SOURCE THAT A MAJOR LEADERSHIP CHANGE WILL BE MADE IN THE PAINESVILLE CITY ADMINISTRATION LEADERSHIP.

EXPECT TO SEE A BIG CHANGE. IT IS HOPEFUL THAT THE COUNCIL COMMUNICATES THE WHYS TO US AS WELL WHAT'S IN OUR FUTURE

AND TO TODAY'S HEADLINE;

Painesville

LOCAL ECONOMY IMPROVING

The Economic Development Department is working hard to succeed

This is due to the possibility of a new tenant for the CORE building on Renaissance Parkway.

Bringing 250 employee's as well as over 6,300,000 to our economy and better than $125,000 in income tax to Painesville. This should help with the offset of the Lake County Health Department relocating.

Gee, Tomorrow's Headline could be fascinating? Hope it doesn't scare business people away?

I have finally decided to promote a Mayor form of government for Painesville. Our council has proven over and over they are incapable of even  picking apples off a tree. Let alone someone to run this place. See the way it is here you only have to keep four people happy and maybe if your entrusted with running this place. Look around at the improvements? Then take the time to look back at the last five years of our former city manager. Can't wait to see who's up next? Doug Lewis he world be a fool to take it, plus he's happy right where he's at. Never mind council overlooked him last time. Council better not TOY with us this time ,or I will spill the beans.

To some employee's you can go back to your rude and lazy ways.

To council you still have loose lips on council and you can no longer blame Andrew Flock. But your telling someone and their telling me. Hell, I even know who and how they voted. No use telling you they have deniability.

No this leadership job should be taken from council and put into the residents hands! MAYOR TIME

Democrat's and emails?
It pretty obvious that Russia hacked into the Democratic Emails and gifting them to WikiLeaks, but why? Let's connect a few dot's first Donald Trump likes to be looked at as the American Putin. Last week Trump changed the RNC platform to be more Russia friendly. Later his claim that maybe NATO would not come to Eastern European neighbors in an attack? I thought this was the guy who didn't telegraph what he would do? And finally his tax returns if the American people had a clue what kind of income he was making in Russia.
Think I'm crazy? Two words Iran-Contra.

"IF I COULD TURN BACK TIME" cher

A TOWN HALL MEETING WILL BE HELD THIS MONDAY AT CITY HALL
MONDAY JULY 25TH.  @ 6:00PM POLICE CHIEF AS WELL AS ANY AND ALL DISCUSSION WILL BE OPEN.
MEETING HELD BY COUNCILMAN MIKE DELEONE AND CHRISTINE SHOOP

If I could turn back time
If I could find a way

Like to 2007

Attended a meeting Thursday evening hosted by Citizen with Municipal Power serviced by AMP-OHIO.

Seems all member communities are having the same problems. Prairie State continues to have unexpected shutdowns, and now OSHA is investigating accidents at the plant?

Then AMP:-OHIO latest debacle came front and center. AMP '"Combined Hydro"
The forecast for this Green Energy project was estimated to be free for the most part after the Bond holder's were paid. So AMP went forward to communities like Painesville with a proposal of a cost of $66.00 Megawatt Hour. Well we are now receiving that power generated from 'Run of the River' Hydro plant (no Dam) at the bargain price of $140.45 MWh!  Hey $66.00 was only an estimate. Some estimate? This project alone will cost Painesville  Hundred of Thousands over the life of the contract. How did this happen the energy is free?

Well to be honest AMP is a louse project manager. Contractor's walking away from the project and a total mismanagement of this project. Did AMP-OHIO pay dearly? No you did, this was another project where AMP had zero skin in the game. You remember those take or pay contracts?

Painesville presently get's 32% of it's baseload from PSEC and 9% from the combined Hydro plants. Start asking friends and family what First Energy is charging them?

Martinsville Virginia called AMP in for a explanation  for all this? AMP representatives refused to answer any of Martinsville's  questions?

Another AMP community was selling excess power for as low as $20.00 a MWh. yes they are also paying $140.45. In a market with a norm of $38.00 MWh.

Some of you must have noticed it seems this week Painesville Power is powered up for Peak Shaving one of the only incident's to operate that plant. I guess we pray for temperature 90+?

I will be sharing more numbers in future post.

One thing that accidentally came up that ALL Electric Department heads seemed to be in AMP-OHIO's corner instead of the municipality that pays their salary? ALL of them to much to just be a conscience?

Solution's? Well as long as city administrators keep paying the bill's and council keeps sticking it's head in the ground nothing! It's insulting to residents to watch this fiasco.

Last Sunday major communities from San Diego to St. Louis and Miami were feeling they had dodged a bullet by not having the Republican Convention in their town? Poor Cleveland!
Well I can say I'm very proud of the organizer's, law enforcement as well as demonstrator's who pulled off something no one expected! As a Clevelander you can be proud. We showed the naysayer's what this community was all about.
You needed a reason why you haven't left the area yet? Well you got a reason this week!
The cleverest sign a witnessed was " Hate's only visiting. Cleveland Loves!" Be proud.

"ASK ME NO QUESTIONS I'LL TELL YOU NO LIES" lynyrd skynyrd

So, don't ask me about my business
And I won't tell you goodbye

That's Right!

Well as I have mentioned in past posts Monday night was do or die time for the extra $6,000 for the DPO. I noticed a couple of people in the audience who were associated with the organization.
I got up and told council they knew my position, let's hear from them? Sorry not impressed , talk of  and I was interested in what the two members of the DPO board had to say? Talk about Chocolate Friday what next Grilled Cheese Tuesday?
One person mentioned getting a certain buzz? Well starting in January that buzz will cost us an extra $6,000?
To Katie Jenkins credit she asked and got an amendment to not make the $6,000 retroactive but to start in January 2017. So in roundabout way the city saved that money this year.

In refection the $6,000 isn't the issue it's how our council  hands out money? Not one council member asked these board members what they need the $6,000 for. For that matter what are you doing with the $20,000 we already are giving you? One board member offered the flowers placed around the downtown area. No transparency no how about your organization joining Checkbook Ohio nothing. I'm willing to bet if I asked anyone on that council for $60.00 the first question would be what do you need it for. But it's not council's  member's money it's yours and they have little concern about your needs but the DPO that's another story. This should be remembered at election time! Shameful is the only word I can add to last nights gifting! Oh, and after the money was promised the board member's skedaddled, in true DPO style. Maybe the time has come that resident's see how council is so giving with city funds, maybe the next time a levy comes up maybe we will remember? DPO is a total waste of needed funds.

Electricity came up again and being a Municipal Power Plant certain consumer right are not the same as say to a First Energy customer. For instance the city has no policy where a customer can sell excess power from their  solar panels to the city.. Presently it's not allowed. This person also mentioned Avery-Dennison is looking into solar power for their Painesville facility.
Another resident explained that although Painesville is not regulated by the PUCO there are still laws regulating utility shutoff's that Painesville seems to ignore. He wanted to play a tape with a city finance employees, (Gurley said he couldn't play the tape)where the employee who supposable knew the conversation was taped telling the resident "We are not regulated by the PUCO we do what we want here."
Tony Torre's not happy with cemetery policy. Also Steele Mansion is booked solid for the Republican Convention this week.
I asked who was overseeing the parking garage demolition. I was told Doug Lewis goes there once in the morning and again at quitting time.

And it goes on, Mrs. DiNallo was excused but in here absence we still talked about sidewalks for over ten minutes. Talk of hiring part-timers to go through our neighborhood marking sidewalks?
Don't we already have employee's walking in our neighborhood reading meters? Walking down the sidewalks while meter reading mark addresses where a sidewalk problem exists.

Ordinances about Design Review Repealing, and Enacting were left on first reading. Maybe by September they can explain what this was all about?

69 High St. was tabled?

Now for some good news!

The first tenant  for High Point Centre was announced  World Wines and Brews a retail store with a present location in Mentor.

 Better News!

It's still in it's early stage with no official announcement yet , but a company named Mar-bal Pultrusion Inc. is in the process of moving into the old CORE facility in the future. A job fair has already happened and this has a possibility of bringing 250 jobs to Painesville. To Doug Lewis and Cathy Bieterman this is what we all are looking for in Economic Development!

So how's that convention going?
Don't see much party unity? The only thing it seems they hate more than Trump is Clinton?
oh, and wait till Philadelphia talk about herding cats!

In other news Monday it was Happy Days we heard from Chachi and Antonio Sabato Jr.?

Don't worry Republicans by the end of the week Michelle Obama will be accused of plagiarizing
Melania Trump's speech in 2008.?

Since someone called me Carnac the Magnificent.. Here's one for you Mike Pence will not be running for Vice-President on election day. He has way to much class to be associated with this.

COUNCIL MEETING 07/18/16

OUR PRAYERS AGAIN GO OUT TODAY , TODAY TO THE BATON ROUGE POLICE DEPARTMENT OVER THE SENSELESS KILLING OF THEIR OFFICERS. TODAY WE ALL BLEED BLUE.

Hot time in the summer time!

We are I guess in the dog days of summer?

Council only meets one time in July and August and with that said July's agenda is quite light.

Finally council must decide if the Downtown Painesville Organization will get that extra $6,000 .00  retroactive to   January 1, 2016. I wonder if council has any idea with all the money goes they dole out?

SECOND ORDINANCE;  REPEALING  Section 1146.08  Design Review District Design Criteria of the Painesville Code of 1998.

THIRD ORDINANCE; ENACTING  SECTION 1146.08 Design Review District Design Criteria of the Painesville Code of 1998.

Don't ask me I haven't a clue what their purpose is with this?

We will continue our discussion on;
Sidewalks
Channel 12
Council Procedures
Recommendation of the Housing Task Force

And a new one 69 W. High St.
I'll go out on a limb here, is this about the plywood garage?

Cathy Bieteterman will give an update on Economic Development.

I'm sure we will hear about the great success of PITP as I'm sure we all had a great time!

Home sales PCLS district;

157 Carroll Ave.         $4,150.00 ?
33 Stockwell               $32,000
307 E. Walnut St.        $59,500
365 Cedarbrook Dr.    $68,000
542 Southington         $118,000
755 Hine Ave.            $22,000
Orchard Grove            $94,000
613 Beacon Dr.           $123,000

Now something a little serious here. By now most of you have seen the ad by the NRA with the man that served in Benghazi. Look I can understand anyone having distain for Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump.
I am sure the producers of that ad as well as  the NRA knew it was against federal law to use a Military Cemetery for the backdrop of a political ad. And did it anyway. That said  the NRA can be proud of desecrating those servicemen and women's graves.

"HUNGRY" paul revere and the raiders

Because I'm hungry for those good things baby
Hungry through and through

Hungry for the Ol' Painesville when you had a choice of grocery stores? Fisher Foods,  A&P,
Kroger's and Loblaw's?

Stay hungry my friends. Those large grocery stores Heinen's, Giant Eagle, ALDI's  Shop-an-Drop just ain't coming back to the Ville'  Take my word for it the demographics don't work. So is my goal to upset you? No I found an alternative very close by.

SweetBerry
Fresh Market

30022 Euclid Ave.  Wickliffe, Ohio

It's amazing what they pack into 3000 sq.ft.

Fresh high quality fruits and vegetables at unbelievable prices!

Nectarines, Peaches and Sweet Plums $.99 LB.

Seedless Red or Green Grapes $1.49 LB.

10# Potato $1.39 a bag

A full service meat department

Top Sirloin Steaks $6.99 LB>

English Cut Pot Roast $3.49 LB.

Full service deli and bake shop as well as

Sweetberry Fried Chicken 12 Pc. Bucket  2 orders of JoJo fries  $9.99

Been there four times and the place is always packed!

On the weekend they have Lerch's Donuts made while you watch.

I really belive this type store could become an great addition to our community. How about Economic Development how about looking into it.

To get Painesville moving  we need to take small smart steps. Grandiose Streetscapes fill newspapers but in the end do little to improve the lives of people living in Painesville.

Or, we can all hope and pray Someday will never be the same.

Am I the only one who views the new Trump-Pence logo as well, having a subliminal  message?  A T going through a P? Or is that  telegraphing what these two have in store for the American people.

Drove by GOP Headquarters at the coal yard three days before the convention  the place looks deserted? Wonder if their going?

"LAWYERS, GUNS, AND MONEY" warren zevon

An innocent bystander
Somehow I got stuck between a rock and a hard place

Well comic-con comes to Cleveland in three days, followed closely in Philadelphia the following week. As a Northern Ohio resident I wondered why we went this route? We actually paid money to get this convention?

Being Brown's town where the predominate color is orange, it makes sense to  me that the presidential  candidate coming out of the convention will be orange.

Now after the past week of the police sniper attack in Dallas. And yesterday we learned you don't need a gun or a bomb to kill 84+  people, a twenty-five ton ice cream truck will also kill people. "Where are you going?, I'm delivering ice cream well come on in." Cleveland's nervous! As they should be.

The pundits on the three major cable companies CNN, FOXNEWS and MSNBC have just realized that Ohio is an open carry state!  With demonstrator's being lawfully to carry a sidearm  or even sling an AR-15 over their shoulder. Odd you would think the NRA would promote open carry in the Convention Hall? No, why not because you might be there? What now about the second amendment? What the Secret Service won't allow it? There was no Secret Service when the Constitution was written!  Certain segments of our population need to be protected. Like all the Wayne LaPierre and the rest of the second amendment Rights  pusher's. PROTECTED You and I just deal  with the demonstrations!

Now with all the anger as well as firepower one of two things can happen. We can have a massacre or with everyone armed maybe everyone will play nice and be respectful to all? Courteous, you don't know who's packing.
What else can we do to bred more discontent? Mother Nature will probably bring us more heat, and some alcohol establishments staying open to 4:00 AM. The perfect storm.

Now Cleveland is trying to reinvent itself I understand that but isn't there an easier way? If there are problems in Cleveland it won't be from Clevelander's but outsider's who care very little about our community.

My wish? That next Friday I will be leaving a post on how well the convention went! I'll be praying a lot until then.

Yes Tim you are supposed to attend and speak at the convention. Didn't get the memo UH?

Craziest VP story.

Chris Christie will never be VP? Seems 10 years ago  he put Ivanka Trumps husband Jared Kushner father, was the accused man prosecuted by Chris Christie and sent to prison. Awkward!

"ONE IS THE LONELIEST NUMBER" 3 dog night

One is the saddest experience you'll ever know
two can be as sad as one

If I hadn't heard enough already today I remembered that the Painesville City School Board met tonight. It's July what possible could they have of interest on the agenda? Well it's air-conditioned and the chairs are comfortable wonder what's shaking down in the Dillard Room?

Two people in the audience the principal  of Auburn Career Center Maggie Lynch , and me.

Ms. Lynch gave her presentation. Approximately 96 Harvey Junior and Senior enrolled at Auburn.
She left after the presentation, that left just me.

As I went through the agenda one item struck me.

Subject  9.11 16-165 MOU for SRO at Heritage MS

Well that was great news, but the board just couldn't pull the trigger. The proposal from the City had just arrived last Wednesday and there were questions?  Good ones and the city might have been wise to have someone there to answer these question. Look for the past week all I  have heard is Black people don't trust the police? Let me add for some unknown reason many educators don't seem to trust them either? I don't know why, maybe it's just having an outsider in their buildings they don't control? It's there piece of the world. Will have meeting with city soon and  SRO was put on the August agenda.

Then later in the meeting;

Subject  11.2 16-167 Set Superintendent Salary

In my entire life I have never witnessed or been apart of salary negotiation's like what I witnessed last night. First off the superintendent never spoke a word and board members started to throw numbers around? 1 and a half percent two and a half percent, what does so a so make? All the time some looking at me , I guess maybe I should have thrown in a number?
Finally and awkwardly they agreed on two percent. All but board member Donley voted yes for the increase. Wonder what she knows the other's don't?
Myself "Ain't got time for that!"

In other news the News-Herald had a story on the parking garage demolition and removal  in todays paper. Starting July 25, 2016 and completed by the end of August. Of interest, Trucks hauling debris from the site will travel east on W. Washington St. to S. State St.to Bank St.  (at 5-point) and onto Allega Property. Seems  like S. State will be moving up on the list of streets!

"SHARE THE LAND" guess who

Maybe I'll be there to share the land
That they'll be giving away

Lake County Land Reutilization Corporation  ie; The Land Bank

Well attended meeting Monday they were so surprised and had to move the meeting that started a half  hour late.
Some agenda items;

Talked about the agency's NIP Demolition Program?

Eastlake  JFK Senior Center Demolition

Painesville Senior Center Demolition. (this was interesting on a former post someone asked who was paying to demolish the Senior Center? I answered simply the county? No the Land Bank will spend over $200,000 to help the county tear it down.  I guess it's in a blighted neighborhood?) Although it is good because it will bring income tax dollars to Painesville community development/ Should have thought about that before the Health Department left town?)
Commissioner Dan Troy sits on the committee all I heard was the reason to establish the Land Bank was to remove blighted homes from neighborhoods? Yet he was at the trough when they wanted to help teardown the Senior Center?

Painesville Parking Garage (we have covered that)

Gage House Land Bank was looking to purchase for $220,000 for their offices that got shot down

and at the very end

265 N. State St. property

265 Future site for HOLA Clubhouse.  No Veronica staff presented a 25 page plan for the site.
Which included architecture drawings of her vision for the building.  Someone seems to be putting the cart in front of the horse here?

Her plan is to establish a business incubator to promote entrepreneurship, support micro and small businesses. She has  applied for a $250,00 grant from the USDA to fund kitchen equipment and construction of ADA-compliant restrooms. Looking at the diagram I didn't see a business incubator, it seemed more like a soup kitchen to me?
She's done her homework from letter's from Hawken School , Lake County Port Authority, Perry Public Library to everyday people. It was rumored she has already met with Governor Kasich over this proposal.

Yet at the same time the Land Bank  claims to have made no promises but .they would probably give them the property could vote to put a new $80,000 roof on the building?  Why not go all out and put a new heating and air conditioning system in. $50,000 Wonder how she found out about this building?
The claim was made this building has been on the market for 10 years? Yes but was it free with a new roof thrown in?

This could be a promising venture for ALL of Painesville. My problem is who's behind it? Veronica might have fooled many but I have watched her manipulate from afar. Turning this building over to just HOLA would be a mistake. I can only hope the city when permits are drawn remember the history with this woman.

I believe the city should view permits and parking recommendation the same way they would anybody else. Also the city should demand a oversight committee to make sure that HOLA follows all federal laws. Hope they make cabbage rolls perogie's , as well as chitlins  and greens? as part of their fare. HOLA on the Front Door will automatically discourage many from entering.

Ms. Dahlberg does her homework and to all listening yesterday it's quite a mountain to climb. If anyone can she can. A community incubator with HOLA offices inside paid by US taxpayers.
For this to work it must not be affiliated with any one group.

This was only the first part of my day! What possibly be going on at a school board meeting in July?

"CRUMBLIN' DOWN" john melloncamp

As most of you might know of the passing of  Russell Schaedlich  former Painesville Planner who retired last year. Russ was 63 years old and I in all my time dealing with city matter's never heard an unkind word about him, or him an unkind word about others. R.I.P.

Some people say I'm obnoxious and lazy
I'm uneducated my opinion means nothin'

Well a few days ago I sent an email to our city manager asking if  the public was welcome when they opened the bids for the demolition of the city parking garage? He informed me the bids had been opened on 06/24/16 Great Lakes Crushing was awarded the bid at $551,508.00 this was about $100,000 under the engineers estimate and more than $5000,000 what I thought it would cost!
I missed this one by a mile, and I had done my homework looking at bids for the demolishing  of same size and type structures?

I am happy to say we dodged a bullet, and kudos to the administration.

Then there's more good news according to an article in the Lake County Tribune in Friday 07/08/16 the Land Bank will also make a financial assistance of $295,000 to the demolition , this on top of the $310,000 that helped pay for the demolition of the old Holiday Inn in downtown.

Seems the state comes up with plenty of money to destroy , but no money or very little to save a structure like our parking garage. I'll go out on a limb but wouldn't $550,000 go along way in saving that garage?

Short mention about the building on N. State St. Executive Director John Rogers was looking into (CDBG) funding for a new roof  ($80,000) and heating and cooling system ($50,000-$60,000)

Rogers noted this project had not yet been presented to the board for approval and funding was not guaranteed.

The Land Bank meets tomorrow Monday July 11, 2016 fifth floor  Lake County Nolan Building.

In other local happenings. The PCLS sent out their summer news letter on the second page they mentioned having teachers participate in  ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) This is a good program but will do little for skirmishes at say the middle school. That's the job of a SRO that it presently seems to be a lot of foot dragging. Especially in the last week our young members need to see first hand what a police officer can mean in their lives. But what do I know. "Ain't got time for that."

Unbelievable the havoc  what one man with two weapons can do in Dallas. And yes he was a racist, in the same vein as the Church shooting in Charleston, SC by Dylann Roof was.
Racism comes in all colors and shapes.

"KNOCKIN' ON HEAVEN'S DOOR" bob dylan

Friday July 8, 2016

Mama, put my guns in the ground
I can't shoot them anymore

As I awoke this morning to the news of five dead police officers in Dallas, it was strange I did not feel shock. I believe I am beyond shock anymore. It's all so senseless. Nothing is being accomplished with all the hate around us.

To younger people around us believe me there was a time in my life just as bad. In my youth 1968 seemed as bad yet being young I had no idea how bad it was, now I do.

I can't believe what I have witnessed in the past three day's. This problem is with all of us. The rage and hate of the two shootings in Baton Rouge and Minneapolis.

We live in a society where I have witnessed a Black man pulled over by the police and witnessed the fear in his eyes as the officer approached the vehicle. That shouldn't happen to anyone in this country.

As I watched the cell phone of the killing in Minneapolis the fear that officer exhibited said to me that man's in a job he has no business being in.

Senseless execution of police officers in Dallas? The only reason being they were white and cops. They had done nothing but protected the demonstrators. Yet there was enough hate to kill them.

This is one situation you can't choose sides. the lives of both citizen and police officers must be honored and respected.

The day comes when police no longer respect citizens is followed shortly by the day the police are no longer respected.

No citizen or police officer must feel like a target or being hunted.

Do I have the answer? No the answer will come from all of us.

It appears what seems to be lacking the most this past week is RESPECT for anyone.

I pray to God for the victim's of the past three days. As well as guidance for direction.
We have enough people in the world that want to kill us without we kill each other.

"I GOT A NAME" jim croce

L:ike a pine trees lining the winding road
I got a name, I got a name

Front page today's News-Herald

CONCORD TOWNSHIP

Businesses coming to Crile Crossing

Burgers, Beer and Coffee coming to Concord!

You have to hand it to that Downtown Concord Organization for attracting 'new' business to their community! They got a name!

What you say there is no Downtown Concord Organization? Well explain why they get businesses to locate there?

Well, they have an 18.8 percent growth since 2000. This community is in need to services like a dry cleaners. And business owner's recognize this.

So as someone mentioned in a previous post Downtown Painesville Organization being a 501c3 non-profit they have to report finances. Yes they have income of $111,938.00 and assets of $38,583.00 Now what these assets are I have no idea. As far as income I only know $22,000.00 comes from the city. I guess to many council member's it's viewed as chump change? I know the Friday Car Show is supported by sponsor's wonder what DPO get's to keep?

My point? The reason no ones comes to Downtown Painesville to shop is twofold first there's limited things you can purchase, second Painesville isn't on their radar, even resident's. For a whole host of reasons.

Grant monies as well as General Fund assets combined to 1.3 million didn't change a thing.

Now that $22,000 doesn't include all the physical services the city provides downtown.

Before Painesville increasers their payment to DPO as well as funding for next year an open transparent spread sheet should be shown to residents where the money comes from and where it is going. Can we say 'Checkbook Ohio?'

Look I don't expect a Burgers-n-Beer or a Starbucks but I do expect something! Seems DPO has a name but very little else.

Well at least the Big Wheel races behind Nemeth's Lounge was a success!

First off I don't suggest or believe Donald Trump is connected with any White Supremacy group
although the Hillary, Star and money first did appear on a White Supremacy site. I asked how did this happen? Well the answer is fairly easy to figure out. The man in charge of Trump's internet feeds just so happens to be a caddie at one of Trumps golf courses? Can't wait to see who's in his cabinet!

"FOURTH OF JULY" 2016

As we spend our July 4th celebration. On YouTube there was an assistant principal from Florida who sang the Star Spangled Banner inside the Lincoln Memorial. It was not planned or staged. It has received over 15 million views.

All of us have many times have listened to famous people, bands, choir's sing this song.

Have you ever read all the words and thought exactly what Francis Scott Key was thinking as he watched the defense of Fort M'Henery.

Forget the music for a second and concentrate on the words.

O! say can you see, by the dawn's early light,

What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming,

Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,

O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?

And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,

Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there;

O! say does that star-spangled banner yet wave

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore dimly seen through the mists of the deep,

Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,

What is that which the breeze, O'er the towering steep,

As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?

Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,

In full glory reflected now shines in the stream: 'Tis the star-spangled banner , O! long may it wave

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave,

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore

That this havoc of war and the battle's confusion,

A home and a country, should leave us no more?

Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.

No refuge could save the hireling and slave

From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:

And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave,

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

O! thus be it ever, when  freeman shall stand

Between their loved homes and the war's desolation

Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the Heav'n rescued land

Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation!

Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,

And this be our motto:

'In God is our trust.'

And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!

"IT DON'T MATTER TO ME" bread

'Cause your happiness is all I want
For you to find peace your piece of mind

I left a comment that if the election was held today Donald Trump would be our 45th President.
What makes me believe this claim?

Well I will tell you a true story and maybe you can explain it to me?

This gentleman bought a house for $129,000 a month before 9/11. He got married for the second time a week after 9/11.

The blended family had three children that all have found a place in life. All have good jobs and everybody is in good health.

Now being a federal employee he retired in his early 50's with a nice federal pension and hospitalization that he pays a small co-pay along with his wife having a full-time job. At times he himself picks up side jobs two days a week.

He has all the weapons he wants without problems.

A couple of years ago they bought a weekend cabin and it for the most part was destroyed when the river crested and flooded the area.. FEMA and local government helped him reclaim his property.( He presently pays a high premium for flood insurance.)

Recently he informed me his home he purchased in 2001 is now valued at $260,000 it has doubled it's value. ( He doesn't live around here.)

So what's all this have to do with Trump?

With all I have told you this person is so angry with the government period. He doesn't care if Trump is a fraud all he wants is change! After hearing his story I wondered why I wasn't more angry?

I have a couple of other friend that are also Trump supporter and both claim they are fed-up over numerous reasons.

So my theory if a person with these circumstance's is this angry , I can only imagine what a person who lost a job, house or hasn't seen an increase in his wages for twenty years feels?

Counting Trump yard sign's ? I think many voter's who are supporting Trump for various reasons and have no desire to share that vote with anyone. They will show up in November. The slogan "Make America Great Again" Really means take me back to the time before the Kennedy assassination. When we were the power of the economic world.. I realized this when our President visited Hiroshima. We remember the pictures after the Bomb? Today Detroit looks like Hiroshima then along with places like Youngstown. and a vast majority of Americans can't buy into this 'Globalization."
In Painesville many view the diversity they see as a fraud. It seems many believe the many new resident's are here illegally. Along with being told they are in violation not the people breaking the law. A local school system suffering with poor results and being told "Well we have a high student's count of immigrant's. That's a good reason your home values have suffered.

They are looking for a Savior. Trump might be the answer and he also might be the worse person to put in charge. But many good people are willing to roll the dice.

So if you have China, Mexico, automation or just for whatever reason, to be "pissed off" I can guess how you will vote this November.

It appears both party's are in a race to the bottom!

This week the most ridiculous infraction of this election took place. Can anyone explain why a former President would go onto the U.S. Attorney Generals plane to talk about grandkids and golf? While his wife is under investigation by the same Justice Department. Didn't anyone in either the Clinton camp or Lynch camp see an issue with this?  What is it Trump had a bad month so let's make July our bad month? The optics are terrible!
